I posted a couple of days ago but thought I should make a new post as not sure if people see it if I just add on to the old thread. Basically my main question is what speciality would be the main one to aid in a diagnosis of B12 deficiency/anaemia.
When I saw my current GP about a month ago he agreed to refer me to a neurologist because I mentioned my memory problems. I am now just reading the referral letter he has sent to the neurologist he says that he can find no definite diagnosis of PA and that I appear to have suffered from iron deficiency anaemia which I have at the moment. He has also said in this letter that I don't get headaches which I do get and actually had been given treatment for severe migraines with my previous surgery. I mainly get headaches now rather than migraines. He didn't ask me about this symptom in the appointment so this referral letter is not correct.
This GP also refused to refer me to a haematologist in March this year. I have now also noticed my Thyroid levels FT4) have dropped which I have posted about in the Thyroid part of the Forum.
I just don't want to waste my time going to a neurologist if I really need to see someone else who might know what is going on better if that makes sense.
I would really prefer to get a diagnosis rather than not knowing what is wrong but I think I just lack the confidence when speaking to these doctors.
Could anyone please advise on who would be better to see to decide what is wrong. I had a blood test in May which I could post if that would be any help to anyone. I just want to know the best way forward as this GP doesn't even seem to know what symptoms I have and he is now mentioning costs of tests etc.
Thanks for reading and I will be very grateful for your responses.
