Hi Everyone. I would like to know if weakness in standing and shaking in hands and arms are part of pernicious anemia. I started with the B12 shots about 7 weeks ago. Sometimes I feel stronger and not so shakey, but other days I feel so weak. And this scares me. Can you tell me if this is normal and does it go away? And how long does it take to go away? Thank you!

Hi jpar when you say you "started with the B12 shots about 7 weeks ago" how many have you had and what is the frequency?
What diagnosis have you been given and were your folate and iron levels tested at the same time as the B12?
It is not uncommon for some symptoms to seem to get worse before they get better but there is no "fixed time limit" as we are all different and a lot will depend on how long you have been B12 deficient.
Hi Clive. I have 2 shots per week, 1000 mcg of hydroxo. I also take 1000mcg of methyl sublingual maybe 3-4 times per week. I was diagnosed with pernicious anemia and tested positive for the intrinsic factor antibody and the parietal cell antibody. I was tested for Iron and it was okay, but it could go a up a bit. So I take Iron 2x per week. Folate was good. Are these common symptoms?
Here is a list of common symptoms.
"Symptoms of B12 deficiency tend to develop slowly and may not be recognised immediately. As the condition worsens, common symptoms include:
Weakness and fatigue
Light-headedness and dizziness
Palpitations and rapid heartbeat
Shortness of breath
A sore tongue that has a red, beefy appearance
Nausea or poor appetite
Weight loss
Diarrhoea
Yellowish tinge to the skin and eyes
If low levels of B12 remain for a long time, the condition also can lead to irreversible damage to nerve cells, which can cause the following symptoms:
Numbness and tingling in the hands and feet
Difficulty walking
Muscle weakness
Irritability
Memory loss
Dementia
Depression
Psychosis

I was a "walking Zombie" by the time I got diagnosed with P.A. 13 years after having stomach surgery but there is life after P.A as I'm still "clivealive" at 75.
I wish you well.
