Does anyone feel very weak after a b12 shot. I feel particularly weak after an injection I had yesterday. Any advice would be appreciated.

For the first two years of treatment I would sleep for an entire day after getting a shot. No idea if that is common, but it is getting a little better now.

Interesting . I get them every 2 weeks and it seems to take a lot out of me. I would be interested to know why. Sometimes I feel like I getting better then I get an injection and don’t feel great. I never had loading doses. Hoping this changes

How long have you been receiving treatment? Loading doses seem to have been important to many of the people who comment. My doctor gave me weekly for a month then monthly then we increase to every two weeks and now every week. I am sure I would have done much better with loading doses because my recovery has been very slow.

Since August . I think I needed loading doses. My initial level was 230.

Sorry you answered my question here. Early days. Your levels should be good now. I started at 106ng/l so they wanted to get them up quickly. List your symptoms . If you have alot of neurological symptoms and not functioning to get out ect definitely get every other day for a while.

How long have you had treatment? The recovery is much slower than I expected and I’m trying to gage what is normal.

I'm on 2 weekly b12 injections. I sometimes get a headache for the whole day after

Always feel weak initially. I have identified the effects start around 6-8 hrs post injection.

Once nothing then a eureka moment 2 days after when i had a surge of energy. I then realised what others meant.

But one out of 14months

I don't know how long you have been treated for.

I agree odd you didnt get loading doses.

I found the only thing is to try different regines. making notes.also to try and eliminate anytjinf else. I rsised my ferritin leveIs as needed and vit D 've settled on 2 weekly for now but still not functioning well. But best at present .

Worse if I leave it longer. Tried more frequently but didn't seem to make a difference now. Did initally for severe balance issues and neuro problems.

Hope you find a balance that suits you.

I still have neurological symptoms. Weakness . Some twitching. I’m trying to convince my hemotologist to do every other day u til I get better. My b12 levels are in the 900s so she thinks I’m fine despite neurological symptoms. Very frustrating

Oh yes. I so wish they would go by symptoms and not keep wasting money insisting you get tested. All they are mesduring is the b12 injected into your body. Not what is actually being used.

I hope you get to see someone with some common sense. Soon.

Take this into your doctor and see if it helps. It is concise and I don't find it remotely aggressive in tone. Scroll down to #4 and 5, it highlights the erroneous practice of connecting serum b12 number after supplementation with progress.

On your original question. I feel exhausted most days. And could sleep all day, if that was possible.

However, the exhaustion feels like a different one than before the b12 was found. Before was more of a wired exhaustion.

All the best to you CW12.

Just wanted to thank you. I printed this document and brought it to the hemotologist. They agreed that I need loading doses. They are in the process of measuring my MMA and homocysteine and hopefully they will start loading doses soon.

Oh what absolutely wonderful news! Very happy to hear. Remember that sometimes during loading you can feel worse before you get better.

Hoping that this makes a difference for you.

Happy for you. But in addition it is also nice to hear of a health professional listening to concerns surrounding treatment.

You are still early in your treatment. It takes a long time for some people, myself included. Hang in there and be patient. We are all pulling for you.
