Hi folks,
I would be really grateful if I could get some advice regarding the purchase of hydro or methyl ampules. I would also like some advice about the size needles to use - should I inject IM or SQ inject?
Any advice gratefully received

looking back through your posts - looks like you are doing this to supplement after being unable to get your GP to move on 3 monthly - just want to confirm that.
There has been a recent post from a member who suffered anaphylactic shock as result of a change in brand so would be good to make sure either that you have someone with you when you do your first self injection or that you purchase the same brand as your GP is using.
There are number of on-line pharmacies that members of the forum use - including amazon.de. I'd suggest doing SQ unless you can get someone to show you or supervise you doing IM - for that you just need insulin needles - medisave is a common source.
Thank you gambit62 - I should have given a little more detail...
I have neurological involvement and have managed to get my GP to 6 weekly injections - and that is as far as they will budge!!
I have no patience for their blinkered attitude; after seeing dramatic improvement with my gastric and occipital neuralgia issues I can no longer be fobbed off - taking control of my health and well-being is my only way forward.
With this in mind, purchasing the necessary items to self-inject, despite my reluctance to do so, is the first step. My main concern is using the correct needles.
Thank you for your advice - I may be back for more!!

I bought the B12 ampoules from Goldpharma. I think it's important you note Gambit62 's advice and get the same as your dr gives you. I did my first injection with a friend present just in case I had any reaction. I think it's rare but best to be sensible. Amazon do a pack of 10 each syringes, blue needles, green needles and swabs for £3.99 and Medisave do larger numbers very cheaply. I bought blue needles ( to draw up) and orange needles to inject as they looked slightly finer. I have to say I push the needle in as far as feels comfortable. There are some videos on self injecting b12 on YouTube that are worth watching.
It's not difficult or painful to s.i --- if I can do it I think anyone can. And it's very empowering to be in charge of my own health!
Thanks for the detailed response 06hollyberry - very grateful...yes, I agree about feeling empowered taking control of your health. It seems totally ridiculous when my health is improving in leaps and bounds for my GP to refuse to allow more frequent injections - it's just the crazy world of B12 deficiency 😳

My G.P barely glanced at my Blue Horizon blood results told me I "probably have post viral fatigue, go home and rest" How strange then that 6 X B12 injections later the tinnitus, dizziness, shortness of breath, hip and knee pain all disappeared! But I was talking nonsense, apparently...........
06 hollyberry I was wondering if These blue needles you use to ' draw up' are they for use with ampoules - do they have a filter?
I have been doing a bit of research and it would seem you should use a filter needle if you're using ampoules?
I would be grateful for your advice.
