All those who SI...

Just reading through some of the posts and it occurred to me that those of you that SI in the UK, you buy your ampules online from the EU market as you are allowed to do this for personal use when it is available in another EU country.

Have any of you thought about what might happen when we leave the EU? What if you are unable to import these ampules any more?

More intrigued than anything, and I wouldn't want to see others suffering more than they need to. I am not a self-injector but would like to know that option is there in the future if I hit a brick wall.

Morning. Think we have all thought/worried about it, seem to think it was a topic of discussion awhile back?.

Think/hope we would always be able to buy the ampoules, but the price may escalate ,e.g import duties?, Euro v ££?, I'm not sure ,but if its not one thing there will be another, doubt it would remain the same price.

So, only two options probably, buy what you can afford on~line at whatever cost, or visit & buy in bulk, much cheaper but not as convieniant..not even possible for some people

The prospect of either makes me so angry, as if we are all 'users' of some illicit drug pushed into paying ever increasing amounts of money for something we 'choose' to take..like we just read somewhere that a B12 jab would give us a boost & we tried it & liked it & now believe need it.

Its unbelievable & scary really..but it IS possible we will be ignored even more & reliant on each other for information, like Partisans ,we may have to arrange secret meetings to exchange 'goods', have drop off points, plan raids on pharmacies...whoops sorry, too many coffees..but???

I just hope that it will be possible to arrange for friends to buy for me from trips abroad.

Most inconvenient that my son broke off with his Romanian girlfriend who is a Pharmacist....No consideration for mum at all ! ( Joking aside she was lovely and I miss her but you can't control your adult kids lives )

Look , after what we have all been through with ignorant doctors etc , we would get around this . I would go to Germany and buy large quantities and act as a "mule" ! We would set up an underground organisation ! We WILL get our B12 ampoules whatever happens with Brexit !

I'll let you know ! I would welcome going to prison for the B12 cause . It could bring us great publicity ! You could all demonstrate for my release . It would be on TV news . Marvellous ! Thanks for your kind thought beginner 1

Well let's hope the 'threat' of buying online will work for most of us. I told my doc that was my intention and she wasn't happy, she said no, we don't want you doing that. Then she agreed to a monthly trial for 3 months. But I also want to self inject when thats's over. And I told her I wasn't prepared to negotiate on it, that was what was going to happen.

I used to think doctors were like mini-gods, but I reckon most of them are scared, of blowing budgets, getting their knuckles rapped for not following guidelines,, oh the list is endless. I do feel loads better now I'm back to monthly injections, so I WILL be staying on them, their guidelines can do one I'm afraid ;)

On another note, I smoke, yes shoot me, I'm a scourge on society. But I enjoy it, I can't drink anymore cos it messes up my blood sugars. I can't walk because my knees are buggered, I don't have a great deal left really. But can you believe I have just been refused life saving cancer surgery because I smoike?

Oh I know all the warnings and risks, I'm not stupid. But I am very angry. When I had my pre-op, I was told I would be having an epidural. I was not told to give up smoking, I was advised it would be a good idea and encouraged to do so, that's all. So, I've just started going to a cessatioin clinic and I'm struggling, because I don't really want to do it, I feel I'm being forced to to save my life. Yes I know I'm crazy but this is my first day so go easy on me please, lol

If it helps I quit about 11yrs ago and consider it the best thing I've ever done for myself. You haven't asked for advice :-) but what I remember about quitting is that it is overwhelming emotional experiences that often threaten to lead us back to cigs, so be prepared w a plan for what you'll do if your feelings knock you for six.

And good luck w your op!

Ahh thanks for that. Yeah I know you're right of course. But today, even my husband's breathing feels like an overwhelming emotional experience! KWIM?

Well you gotta keep your Sense of Humour or all is lost. At least he's being sweet and doing it with me, to help. Thanks for your well wishes x

Oh gosh, I remember it well. But irritability is my default state so it was less of a transition for me. :-D

I was 'lucky' to have quit during a bout of flu, so I avoided going through some of the worst of the initial stages (or they were superceded by fever and vomiting). I still had to go through the staying quit part though, sadly.

What a good husband you have. That is quite a gesture. Should make it better for both of you. When I quit I had just started seeing my boyfriend (now husband) and he had quit shortly before we met (he was still on the nicotine gum). It helped that he didn't smoke, and I'm sure my quitting came as a relief to him.

Good luck to you both!!
