Gastrology appointment

Had endoscopy and colonoscopy today, results were diverticular disease and hiatus hernia. Does anyone know if either of these could be the cause of my b12 deficiency. Got to wait and see the cardiologist and not sure how long that will take.

My B12 deficiency started after having part of my bowel removed in 1999. After the op I had hiatus hernia and stilldo have. B12 was ddiscovered 2y ago but I know I've been deficient since the op but no one picked up on it

I believe my B12 deficiency cause chronic diarrhoea that resulted in a colon resection- this deficiency seems to be at the route of so many health issues for me!!

I had endoscopy and colonoscopy after severe iron deficiency anaemia and was also diagnosed with diverticular disease and a hiatus hernia.( not a cause of the anaemia as far as I know). Feels like a lot of people have both as they get older. The diverticular disease was first diagnosed years ago, but I have never had major problems. Getting used to the hiatus hernia but again not many problems, depends whether you then have to take antacids which can affect B12 absorption.

Thanks Chris193, I was taking antacids a couple of years ago before any diagnosis but stopped when I found out I had B12 defficiency. Now I manage heartburn symptoms by drinking Soda Water, for some reason it works.
