How would a uk resident get hold of a safe source of methyl b12 to self inject?
I'm worried that I'm about to get irreversible nerve damage due to British doctors refusal to accept a problem exists or to offer treatment.

What is your B12 level. ?
Is it methylcobalamin you want? I found it was ok at first but doesn't agree with me now. I prefer hydroxicobalmin which works better for me but is also easier to get and is much cheaper

I'd settle for hydroxy as that's what they prescribe here in the U.K.
I said methyl as I believe that's what they use to repair nerve damage.
Yeah I use hydroxi , inject every other day. My dr never offered any help either , 162 was my level. But finally 4th dr gave me 3 monthly but I'm injecting in between. You can buy 100 for €55.90,
From a recognised manufacturer and get them into the uk?
Tell me more please
I get my Hydroxocobalamin, like deniseinmilden, from versandapo.de which has the advantage of an English option on its site.
Injectable B12 doesn't require a prescription in Germany. So it's easy to buy anywhere, including online. Versand is a long-established bricks and mortar chemist, so is very reliable.
Hydroxocobalamin (and cyanocobalamin) are easily converted to methylcobalamin by the majority of people, so it's the preferred sort.
If you go to the versandapo.de site and search for Hydroxocobalamin acetate then you'll find the right stuff.
As deniseinmilden says, there is a small chance (about 1 in 10,000) of an anaphylactic reaction, so it's best to get the first injection done by a medical professional who knows how to deal with such an event and has the required gear to hand.
Hi!
It is very strongly advised to have your first injections done by a health practitioner in a clinic that could care for you in the minute chance that you had an adverse reaction.
Hydroxocobalamin is easier to obtain and use than methylcobalamin and is cheaper. In most people it is just as effective and often better tolerated, hence why it is the choice source of B12 licensed in the UK. If you have the genetic mutation which means your body cannot methylate properly then you can use methylfolate tablets instead of folic acid as your source of folate, along with the other vitamins and minerals you will need, especially potassium and magnesium, maybe iron, to make the extra B12 work.
I have bought hundreds of good quality hydroxocobalamin ampoules from versandapo.de and have had excellent service. Their website automatically translates everything into English for you if you click on the Union Jack icon. I set up a PayPal account to pay for it and this works out the exchange rates and taxes for you so it's very simple. It took me less than 4 minutes to reorder yesterday and I know it will be delivered by my postman within a few days.
