Can someone explain anything/everything about h-pylori (have gotten twice in 2016 & have to go next month for being retested again, the doctors think it's back again--only this time if it's back they said they would be putting me in the hospital to do all the different meds through the IV (because they believe the pills are not helping it heal or get rid of)...any advice...please & thanks

I've got a feeling I'll be in the same situation,as for most of my life I've had acid reflux,it's only when I was finally tested for h-pylori that's when and why I was having so many problems,I've been now told that I'll have to take omperzole tablets for the rest of my life,I had a full weeks course of antibiotics to rid me of the stomach bug,but I'll be keeping an eye out if I start with any symptoms again,so I hope your problems settle down and have an acid free futures.

mega thanks Cb1963 and hopefully you can also some some relieve also (was also told to stay on the omperzole tablets--only now they stopped working) so my ulcer & acid is hitting even harder than the first time...so will see a new/different doctor hopefully next month, if not then in Jan. hopefully I will get some answers...hopefully things work out for you also....

Just be aware that omeprazole will neutralise your stomach acid , which means that your absorbtion of vitamins( especially B12 ) and minerals will be impaired. Acid is very important in the digestion process.

Thanks for the info...the doctor also gave me something to coat my stomach as the acid is upsetting my ulcer & my hernia...and for now just trying to get some relief until I see this new stomach doctor.....more afraid it could be the H-Pylori back again (and if it is then I'll be put in the hospital to get rid of it); on the call list if someone cancels then they will call me to get in & see this doctor....but will also make sure when they do my next set of blood work to check for the B12 levels...mega thanks

hey there Wedgewood, that's really interesting as I suffer with peripheral neuropathy and I think that B12 is a known vitamin that is much needed to keep your nervous system intact, and I've had to take omeprazole for many years on and off,I'm now wondering if taking it for so long that's ultimately caused my PN,it would be interesting to see if other people have had any similar problems long term taking omeprazole, but unfortunately I'm in a no win situation as in the summer I had an internal bleed, treated for the H-pylori bug whilst in hospital and now it's omeprazole for the rest of my life,so ultimately for whatever reason my stomach is producing to much acid, and hence the medication to reduce the acid,so that's the it is for me at the moment, but many thanks for your helpful advice, cheers

I am really sorry to hear about your health problems . I know someone who took omeprazole for many many years, and ended up with numb feet and legs . She had 3 spinal operations , to no avail . Her bones became brittle, and she had several falls , breaking bones . She is in a wheel chair now. I know there are many other possible reasons for her disability . But I'm pretty sure it was taking the omeprazole for 12 years. It's is extremely rare to have too much stomach acid . I asked for a test of my stomach acid , and was told no . It's only given in research situations . But the gastroenterologist did tell me that PA . patients( I'm assuming that you have PA as you have come to this site.) have low or no stomach acid (hypochlorhydria or Achlorhydria ) There is no cure I was told . Your best bet is to find a doctor who practises functional medicine . They have knowledge of nutrition which conventionally trained doctors do not have . There will be a way around your problem without taking omeprazole which I think is evil stuff.

I wish you all the best .

Thanks Angelb123, I do stay away from the acid foods (but also on a only 500mg sodium a day---which the doctors are talking about trying me at 100mg or lower a day), because still swelling and blood work show spitting out high/large amounts of sodium---which is not good on my lungs or heart.....so now with my stomach begin so strange it has me more worried (my older doctor fears my colon & small intestine is trying to shut down.....so hopefully this new one will find out something new or especially get it under control)...thanks again...

Have your other family members been tested? Who prepares your food?

It is a bacteria. You get it from eating contaminated food and being in direct physical (kissing) contact with someone who has it.

Thanks Pvanderaa...Other family members have been tested & they don't have the stomach issues that I do...I prepare food or my room mate does (kinda a very bland diet--with the super low sodium to start with) no red meats, no breads (even got a different flour), only fresh/frozen vegs/fruits; & etc....not contaminated food, if any left overs the next day I freeze for something quick to eat....so that is what has the doctors worried as to what is fully happening...mega thanks again, just not sure what is going on....

Hi Terri324,

I took the regular3 antibiotic course and the symptoms returned in about. 3 months. I bought ACS 200 advanced cellular silver. 24 sprays 2X a day for Two weeks swish and swallow. Don't drink for 2 minutes. My tested negative this time and my symptoms didn't return. It's been 3 months. Don't use the silver for more than2 weeks. I think h.pylori starts growing from not having enough stomach acid. Now I take HCL or Apple cider with vinegar in water before a protein meal. Good luck.

I meant Apple cider vinegar with mother in water. Stress has a lot to do with it too. This is just my experience.

My Daughter had H.pylori and now she takes apple cider vinegar. 4VRHLTHY Interesting about low acid causing it, though I should have guessed.
