B12 Patches
They work for some people but not for others.
Alternative methods of supplementing - in order of likely effectiveness are: nasal spray, sublingual tablets and sprays, skin patches
Think most people use sublingual tablets and sprays.
Really high dose orally can also work for some people as 1% of B12 is absorbed outside the ileum.
Suggest that you try searching for posts that refer to skin patches by putting 'skin patches' into the box that says 'Search Pernicious Anaemia Society' in the header bar on the far right hand side.
I used them and they didn't help me at all I was using up to 5 at the same time ! But don't be put off . They do help some people . We PA people are all so different in our needs . That's one of the problems, as the medical profession treat us all the same ( if we are lucky enough to get a diagnosis!)
Im one of the ones that they work for. Initially i was using high strength methyl based ones about two or three a week but now its an as and when basis. They worked within hours to get rid of burning legs. I also found that my pins and needles went quite quickly with methly based oral spray. So i keep that handy because i get the 'stings' when i have a lot of driving to do. So it seems for me methyl based b12 works yet others complain about side effects or them not seeming to work. So as wedgwood says its a trial and error on the one size does not fit all.
Have you actually tried any yet, christmas63?
