Hi All. my husband had his blood results through this morning. His B12 came back at 240, range (180-900) and his ferritin came back high at 417 range (15 - 300) Confused with the distance of the levels? Cold he still be b12 deficienct. .? Is it dangerous to be so high?
He is definitely symptomatic.
Thanks in advance

Some people do have all the symptoms of B12 deficiency despite 'normal' serum levels. Ask for an MMA (methylmalonic acid) test - that will show if the B12 he does have is doing a proper job.
The high ferritin level may be nothing more than being overweight or drinking too much alcohol. Symptoms are similar to some of those of low B12:
stomach pain
heart palpitations or chest pains
unexplained weakness
joint pain
unexplained fatigue
Probably a good idea to have a liver function test.
I hope his GP is doing more tests as he may have haemochromatosis which can cause symtoms similar to PA
