Hi I have had 6 loading doses of B12 and my first two monthly injection. I have started a Vit D protocol but feel no difference?

Hi jonan, I would look on the PAS website as I remember reading on there reasons why b12 injections may not work. I can't remember them myself! Good luck. :-)

Are you supplementing with folic acid and a daily multi vitamin.  The cells need a balance of vitamins.  If you have been severely deficient in B12 your cells will quickly use up your reserves of other minerals and vitamins once they get B12.

Your symptoms may actually seem worse because the cells flood your blood stream with the metabolic byproducts and it takes a few days for the liver to filter them out.  You may also get intestinal issues from this.

Start a logbook and track the severity of your symptoms.

Neurological damage is very very slow to heal.  The logbook provides a way to supplement any short term memory loss and you can monitor the progress of your symptoms.

You can also use the log as evidence when you need your GP to give your more frequent jabs.

Could you explain a bit about the metabolic byproducts flooding the blood please? Would these explain side effects? Would you have any sources on this? I often wonder if the supplements are hurting or helping, it gets very confusing 😒

Yes, I'd like to know what these 'metabolic byproducts' are. Sounds a bit suspect to me.

I didn't respond for a long while..I didn't get loading doses but felt no different for months. I ended up switching to weekly jabs for several months and then I felt a difference. Good luck!

Have not gone that route, because my doctor ultimately agreed to continue weekly shots for several months. It took months for me to respond.

Recently my levels have been good and the neuropathy much improved, with the benefits lasting between shots instead of only lasting hours. However I started getting a horrible skin condition after the shots, so I asked to space them out a bit because I thought I might be getting too much now. I'm not sure if that was the right thing. So the neuropathy may be coming back.

Not what you're looking for?
