My daughter (27y) is having bloods for B12 next wed. She has classic symptoms.

Doctor said she's tired because she has 2 baby boys but that in my opinion has nothing to do with all her other symptoms.

Bad body aches

cronic fatigue

brain fog

forgetful

cold hands and feet

palpitations

anixiorty

to name a few.

Maybe a good idea to also have Ferritin - Folate - Iron - VitD also tested. When B12 is low the others can be too. Hopefully they will automatically do a FBC - Full Blood Count :-)

If all the levels are low - it may be prudent to consider low thyroid as well. Postpartum Thyroiditis is more common than people realise. The symptoms of both Low B12 and Low Thyroid do overlap .....

Hope all goes well for your daughter. Tell her to obtain copies of all her test results so you can post back here - with the ranges - then people can advise. It is her legal right to have copies and should not be a problem. Maybe a small charge for paper and print ! Here in Crete we have to keep all our own records - so no unpleasant confrontations at Reception :-)

How is your daughter's balance?

Doctors like tests. They really like tests with concrete results. When I went to see my GP complaining about worsening symptoms one thing I mentioned was that I fall over in the shower when washing my hair (closing my eyes and leaning my head back).

So he asked me to stand, barefoot, feet together and close my eyes. Then he gave a little shove on my shoulders - and I staggered forward. He repeated it twice more and semed mightily impressed.

It seems that it's quite difficult to fake the response I had. Reflexes kick in and twitch the right muscles to keep one upright. Neurological problems, like from PA, hinder those reflexes.

So try it on your daughter. If she staggers then mention balance problems to your GP and get him to test her. It may well be more persuasive than reports of fatigue, brain fog, memory lapses, irritability, etc. Which are all difficult to test and may be the result of other problems. Falling over (at least when sober) is a sure-fire sign of a neurological problem, and the most obvious reason, especially when combined with the other symptoms, is B12 deficiency.
