Hi guys,

So this is my second post and you were all so helpful first time round. so I know my Vit b12 is low at 154ng and whilst I am awaiting the results of my second tests serum B12 and IFAB I was wondering what other results from my last blood tests might be important or relevant?

Thank you in advance for anyone able to help.

Carly

What tests did you have? Probably best to post results when you have them

The first time I had a full blood MOT and I have all the results printed out but not with ranges. I have no idea what they all mean though. The second lot was specifically for serum b12 as my B12 appeared low first time round and intrinsic factor. Shall I take a photo of them and add them to the post?

Yes that would be good, better with reference ranges but some people on here might be able to help

Hi Carly,

Unfortunately very difficult to say anything with out the ref ranges used for normal by your lab.

Mean consular volume MCV 98.5 fL, looks like its high, if I compare it with my lab ranges for normal.

My lab uses for normal:

Lab Ref range for normal: Hb 110-165, MCV 79-98, serum B12 161-531 ng/L = 119 - 392 pmol/ L

All in all a low serum B12 and symptoms should be good enough for treatment , see:

bcshguidelines.com/document...

Hope this helps,

Kind regards,

Marre.

How long do you have to wait for an Intrinsic Factor Anti Body test to come back - it has been ages and the GP still doesn't have them!!!

in reply toCarlygeorge

Mine took 3 weeks..

That's ridiculous surely they can't put off treatment for that long!

It took my daughter a year from initial diagnosis of to low B12 to getting treatment, she was / is fine. It all depends on how much neurological damage you have I expect..
