Hi recently been diagnosed with b12 and folate deficiency. Had loading dose and receiving 3 monthly injections plus daily folic acid tablets. However i am constantly tired, i loose loads of hair, constantly freezing cold and have permanent numbness in my fingers. My GP said my thyroid tests are ok could the b12 injections be giving false thyroid results

Help b12 deficiency ? Thyroid
Welcome!
Not sure if B12 would affect Thyroid results but there is lot of overlap in symptoms between the 2. Do you have a thyroid problem as well as a b12 deficiency? It may be an idea to get a copy of your blood results as what your GP says is ok isn't necessarily so! The Thyroid UK group here on health unlocked may be able to help with working out if these thyroid results are actually ok or not.
As you are having neurological symptoms which may well be due to your B12 deficiency the B12 deficiency say you should be receiving them every 2 months not 3 monthly.

BNF (a copy of which should be on your doctors desk!): evidence.nhs.uk/formulary/b...
Have you had your Iron and Vitamin D levels checked? Being low in either of these can make you feel pretty rubbish too with some of the same symptoms.
My GP refuses to give them every 2 months even though the fatigue, numbness and leg twitching was soo bad at one point she was convinced i had MS and sent me for loads of tests until it was ruled out. Shes also tested for Chrons and Celiac but both came back negative. Im just so fed up of having no energy and i feel like chopping my hands off the numbness pins and needles drives me crazy.
Hi miglet54 thanks for your reply do you have a website or address to purchase from please x
When Docs say your Thyroid tests are *OK* - you really do need to see those test results. You are entitled to copies of ALL your test results - they are legally yours. You need to know what was tested for the Thyroid - often it is just the TSH - which tells you so little about what is going on with your Thyroid. It is a Pituitary hormone that tells your Thyroid to produce T4 - a storage hormone. This in turn needs to convert into the ACTIVE thyroid hormone T3 - which is needed in every cell of your body. You also need the Thyroid anti-bodies testing to rule out Hashimotos. There are Home Testing Kits that can be sent to you from Blue Horizon and used by many on the Thyroid UK forum ....

The most popular test is Thyroid profile 11.
Due to various restrictions at GP level and their labs - often just the TSH is tested. You need all the results to know the FULL story. If your TSH is over 2.5 then your Thyroid is struggling.
Low B12/Folate/Ferritin/VitD so often go hand in hand with Thyroid issues. There are over 50,000 people on Thyroid UK here on HU - so lots of experience to draw on.
I am not a medic - I have Hashimotos and a B12 issue
