Shoulder and arm pain?

Kt088 profile image

4 years ago I developed pain in my forearm, turned out to be tendonitis which developed into frozen shoulder and it was a good few years of PT and major discomfort, braces etc. I still don’t have full use of it. This week I’ve developed the exact same thing in the other arm, and I’m not a happy camper right now. There’s so much you can’t do while the tendonitis is healing, only adding insult to injury. In my research I found that PWPs are susceptible to this and was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this? Thanks everyone!

I have got a bit of hand and forearm tendinitis on my strong side. Possibly overuse injury. See my posting here for discussion of overuse injury in the leg on the strong side and lower back pain:

For healing tendinitis I prepare a beef soup using beef bones with some meat plus lot of cartilage on them. Not an instant cure but does the seem to help.

Yes. I had it in the tendon between my upper bicep and shoulder. It was the worst and took a year to heal. I’m just back to exercising it again and I’m so afraid it will happen again. I’m sorry to hear you are having trouble in a new arm

If you have ever been on the drug class of highly potent antibiotics that includes Ciprofloxacin and covers a large group of these tendon and ligament damaging antibiotics by various names, it may have caused it. The other group of drugs that are known to have these effects on tendons and ligaments as well as muscle pain and increased chance for memory loss are the statins that are used to lower cholesterol. PD is known for these issues too. Here is a link that discusses Ciprofloxacin and tendon ruptures and ligament damage :

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

I have a friend who is currently about 95% better after having the tendons and ligaments tear in his upper left arm to the point that after the surgeon reviewed the contrast dye MRI, he told my friend that he was not a candidate for physical therapy and the only solution was to have surgery. Here is how my friend got back to 95% recovery without PT or surgery :

As far as things that may help in the interim to help alleviate pain, you may find this useful:

Good luck and just post if you have any questions!

Looks like Dr. Emil collagen pills are gone from Amazon. I wonder what happened.

I have been buying direct from their own website as they were delivering faster than Amazon. Perhaps they were getting too many complaints about delivery time on their Amazon orders, but it is not the first time I have seen a vendor leave Amazon.

Thanks, Art. I’m going to try this. I didn’t elaborate in my post up top (sometimes it’s such a hassle to type), but I have recurring tendon pain in my upper hamstring and then the bicep tendon pain that I had last year. Like your friend, I couldn’t lift my arm or readily put on my coat. The kicker was that it was in my good arm. The hamstring tendon pain flares up when I try to run too fast or push too hard in yoga. That pain is on my bad side.

All this to say, I’d like to find something that helps. This problem prevents exercising. I’ll look through Amazon and see if I can find a replacement to the one you recommended. Your method seems pretty straightforward. ;)

Scrap that. Most of the products have >10,000 reviews, mostly positive, which is an indication of scam reviews.

Before Amazon stopped carrying the mentioned product, they had over 20,000 reviews. If by "scam reviews" you mean fake reviews, it is hard to imagine that could be possible with over 20,000 reviews as Amazon only lets you review a product once afaik. That means it would have taken thousands of individuals posting fake reviews. I generally look at the 1 star and 5 star reviews in order to get an idea of the best and worst that any given product is likely to offer.

With the experience I and others have had with this product, I would say they are in line with the high reviews it got. I buy directly from them now as they have been delivering faster than Amazon.

Yes, scam reviews are a big issue. There are a number of ways that fake reviews are generated. You can do an internet search to see some recent articles about it. Here are a few:

theverge.com/2020/10/2/2149...

chicagotribune.com/business...

cnbc.com/2020/09/06/amazon-...

I had this strange thing happen where I received a fez hat in the mail from Turkey. (I did not order it). When I looked into it, I found that this is another method (called “brushing”) that vendors use to boost their reviews. You may remember hearing about the seeds from China.

bbb.org/article/news-releas...

I’m certainly not saying that the product you recommended was subject to fake reviews. But I have become more skeptical when I see such a large number of positive reviews on products.

Can you give the brand of collagen you got from Amazon? The link I found in another of your posts did not work and most brands I looked at only had a 5 star rating in the 70s.

Thanks

Hi DEAT.

Well, I didn't actually see you order it, so I can't confirm that you did! 😁😁

Yes, that is the correct product.

Here is a link to it with a picture of the bottle :

dremilnutrition.com/product...

I think they are currently offering 20% off of your first order, but you would have to double check that to be sure. It seems to me that they were about a dollar less than Amazon when Amazon was selling it.

My friend who used it for torn tendons and ligaments also took vitamin C with it because vitamin C also increases collagen production.

When I just looked on Amazon, they do not show it. I have been buying directly from his site and here is a link :

dremilnutrition.com/product...

Read the blue band at the top of the link page. It looks like they are offering 20% off of your first order if you join their email list so they can notify you of sales they run occasionally.

Yes, so did I and the bottle is not on the page it takes you to and that is why I have been ordering directly from the manufacturer.

First my left shoulder, then my right shoulder became frozen, then I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. It’s very common for shoulder problems to precede a diagnosis I think. Since taking B1 I’ve lost all rigidity except in my right neck and shoulder. The first problem to come is the last to go!

Hi. Yes, two years ago i was diagnosed wit frozen shoulder . It should have raised some alarms as esteroid injection in the shoulder made the pain worse. As it happen i developed tremor in that arm a few.months later. Still no diagnose. I did physio, so the pain went though not fully. Tremor persists as i know in.my heart its PD. I keep doing pendullum exercices with both arms and now i include some weight...keep moving!

Yes I got awful shoulder tendonitis from my rowing machine. Took a year of abstinence and physio visits to go away. PwPs and rigidity go together and I now know never ever to work out without proper warmups, cooldowns and hot showers to stimulate the blood supply. I also have a hot bath with epsom salts most nights. Afraid I am an exercise snowflake - but I do now keep up a regular 5k on the rowing machine!
