Levodopa medication can be addictive in some people. It is a dopamine precursor, after all, and dopamine is a reward neurotransmitter. Dopamine agonists have apparently been addictive for some people, too.

It would be very helpful if you started to track your actual dosage.

The advice I've read is to slowly reduce amounts, that it takes 10 weeks to adjust to a new level.

I don't know your situation, but it's possible you may need outside help. Gary, from outthinking Parkinson's, described that he required hospitalization to cut his dosage levels. Hopefully it won't be that bad for you.

It's a long narrative, but informative.

just started reading the long narrative .... i had a similar event end of 2019, but had to manage at home (no hospitalization) with my neuro (luckily able to drive me out of that nightmare).

Advise for what? How to do the wash out? Or how to avoid it? or how to understand in advance that you are getting close to collapse and need it?

It is a quite dangerous thing to do and requires specialist advise and support (home help). Can't be done alone.

I had to do because i was intoxicated by L/C meds for a mix with other natural supplement. Basically i was having a paradox effect (meds were doing the opposite of what they were suppose to do, giving extreme rigidity instead then relaxing and making me move).

I had to stay without L/C meds for 48 hrs (but could not go more than 24 hrs - at the end i was lying on the bed unable to move a finger - when the heavy withdrawal symptoms arrived I had to stop wash out -praying that it was enough, otherwise another wash out would have been necessary) luckily it was enough but L/C dosage had to remain low (less then half) for days with long, heavy and painful off hours.

I could not sleep for almost 3 days

Make sure you are taking them before eating and avoid protein.

You should go back to your neurologist as well - maybe azilect or pramipexole will help.

Hi there, it feels that something is not quite right. Are these all your meds? If so a brief history of your arrival at the present situation may be helpful.

I am a 72yrs female from UK, diagnosed for 16 yrs. I was not prescribed Sinemet for around 7-10years my mainstay treatment being Requip (Ropinirole).

I have not had to wean myself off Sinemet. I have done so with Re quip and other meds. Whatever the reason the process has always been the same: just as you describe gently easing down. A bell rang loudly when I read that someone had none in their system and were banjaxed for days stuck on the bed unable to move. This happened to me with Requip. Apparently several adulterated batches worldwide were distributed as part of a money laundering operation. At the end of my road my bloods were completely negative for Ropinirole

I got diagnosed in 2015 my doctor put me on sinement 25/100 , because it was not readily available, in my city. I started alternating it with sinement 25/250 3 × a day. early this year it started wearing off and sometimes won't work, the wearing out became more often after about two three ours my doctor said I should add endotacapone, still the dose for sinement did not reduce. He then advised me to use sinement cr yet the dose didn't reduce I take d sinement every three hours I.e sinement 25/250 even in the middle of the night that's about 12tablets a day
