At the Emergency department I was 1st told I had a kidney infection, I have had those in the past but this time I had no pain just a very swollen stomach. However I went home with antibiotics feeling hopeful. 2 days after finishing them I returned to my GP who referred me back to the Emergency department. I received an X ray & blood test, was told they could still find nothing wrong, to go back to my GP & ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist. 7 months later after telling the G P I had heard nothing she said she had been contacted & he could see nothing concerning in my notes. 5 months later I was in so much pain my husband called an ambulance. I had an X ray & CT scan. I spent 2 weeks in hospital, a cyst was removed from my pancreas so I no longer had a swollen stomach but was still in pain. I had another CT scan & an endoscopy & the tumour in my pancreas was at last detected. 1 year on I am still in pain on a daily basis but am receiving 6 monthly MRIs to check for any cancer. The surgeon informed me that if there had been cancer present 2 years ago on my first trip to the Emergency department I would be dead by now. So please follow your instincts, do not be fobbed off & insist on a CT scan & endoscopy
