Hello,

I went to the GP in May with a pain in the left-hand side of my chest and some breathlessness. A chest X-ray showed hyperinflated lungs, and a blood test showed elevated amylase levels. I was referred for spirometry to check for COPD, and the GP wrote to a consultant to see if a CT scan should be arranged to check for pancreatitis.

Six months later, the spirometry is arranged for the end of this month, and I am on the waiting list for a CT scan. Yet, the pain is still there, and the bloated feeling, my legs go through periods of intense itching. My appetite is quite poor due to constantly feeling full and my lower back aches. It is an ache similar to the ache in my chest/abdomen.

I contacted the GP again a week ago, because individually, the symptoms are trivial, but as a cluster, they could indicate something like pancreatic cancer (according to Google). However, I have no jaundice and although i have lost a little weight, it is not significant.

I have an ultrasound arranged for the end of this week, to see if there is anything observable that would speed up the CT scan, and my blood has been taken again to check the enzymes.

I do not usually worry about my health, but there is now a nagging 'what if?' at the back of my mind.

I just wondered if anyone had experienced similar symptoms, and if so, did you find out what was causing them?
