Could CT have missed pancreatic problems? 6 months ago I had CT without contrast followed by limited upper right quadrant ultrasound to get a closer look at my liver. Completely normal other than the fatty liver. I’m still experiencing upper abdominal pressure and back pain. Recently all my stools float and there is a slight oil film in the water. They also stick to the toilet. I eat healthy and drink plenty of water and hardly eat any fat. I have lost weight but I’m also 9 months postpartum so it’s hard to tell. Should I get screened ASAP for pancreatic cancer? I was trying not to worry but nothing I try is easing my symptoms. I made the mistake of asking Dr. Google and of course now I’m not a good place at all emotionally.

I have been to see them numerous times over the past 6 months but they aren’t worried because my tests and a CT scan all come back normal. My only test of concern is a mildly fatty liver without cause? But my liver enzymes are now normal. I have another appointment coming up soon and I’m hoping this new “floating stool” issue will get them going. But I’m thinking not because even though it’s floating and all it’s still normal color and not diarrhea and not extremely foul smelling. Weird. Thank you for your reply.
What does "eat healthy" mean? Can you list what you eat and how much water you drink?
Having a fatty liver isn't due to eating fat. Eat more good fats.
I mainly drink water. But I will occasionally drink green tea or other teas sweetened with raw organic non filtered honey or agave nectar. I drink about eight to ten - 16 oz water bottles per day. I try to keep my meals well spaced with a small snack in between. For example, for breakfast I usually have a non dairy yogurt with dried non sweet coconut flakes and a handful of blueberries. Lunch is when I eat my biggest meal. Usually heavier in vegetables. For example, some steamed salmon or baked chicken marinated in mild spices with a vegetable side of spinach, carrots this makes up about 60% of my plate and I’ll include about 4-6 walnuts and some grains or boiled lentils. For snacks, some fruit like a grapes, melon are my favorite. For dinner a light soup such as chicken noodles with a side of toast and a light spread of butter. I try to buy as much as organic as I can. After 8pm I don’t have anything else to eat. I go to bed about midnight or later and get about 8 hours of sleep. I am a stay at home wife and mom. During the weekends or outings with my family we eat out and I pick the healthiest choices they have on the menu. I can’t find a correlation between foods and my symptoms. I am not currently on regular medication. I did take a daily 150mg ranitidine for 3 months but no longer on that. I take a strong pain reliever 2-3 times a week but only one per day. I don’t like to add medication to my body on top of whatever it is I already have. But I do take a daily multi vitamin, extra D3, omega XL, B-Complex, garlic supplement and nightly stress reducing supplement. That’s usually my routine day. Sorry, I may have given you more info than asked for. Also, my symptoms are worse when sitting and lying down (more so on my sides). I did have a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy in March of this year. Colonoscopy found a small benign tubular adenoma which was removed and I’ll have to go back to get another scope in 5 years. Upper endoscopy was completely normal no reflux, no inflammation, no ulcers. I’m at a loss to what this could be. 😔 Having had a negative CT gives me some peace of mind but I do know this kind of scan also misses many things.

Me and colleagues use to search our medical conditions at good scientific sites, like mayoclinic, NHS, webmed, and other medical academic ones. it is important to both consult with an academic medical doctor and develop our own knowledge about our diseases. This is because no one believe on and correlate our symptoms like ourselves. I had a thromboembolic episode and suffer from diverticular disease, the latter could be the cause for symptoms like floating stool, moderate lower abdominal and back pain, constant sickness and low energy. And, yes, i eat healthy no fat food and practice physical fitness, however have a stressed life and work too much at my age (63).
Sorry to hear that you suffer from diverticula disease. I have an aunt who has this and it’s awful to see her go thru her flare ups of it. I had a two minor episodes of bloody diarrhea and was sent in for an urgent colonoscopy two months ago to check for this and but I was only found to have a small benign tubular adenoma which was removed. Doctor suggested it may have been the diarrhea that irritated my colon or rectum and thus giving me blood in my stool. I haven’t had blood in my stool since then. Thank you for your reply.
I had very similar symptoms to you - floating stool and oily. I think it’s actually from your good diet . I was taking omega three and lots of fiber. Then due to personal event and stress forgot my vitamins every day and ate a poorer diet with less fiber and the floating stopped ! Back now on my healthy diet and omega 3 and bang back again. Could be coincidence and I still worry about my stomach as I have constant pain but just thought I would share. Push for more checks for your sanity . It’s hard to enjoy your time with your new baby worrying you won’t be there for them. I have been there . Good luck .
Thank you! How interesting. My stool recently stopped floating and now that you mention it, I have also been eating less healthy since my stomach has stopped aching so much. Really strange. But I had not made that connection. I’m less stressed now. Thank you so much for your reply.
