I had a DWP medical and was kicked off the sick for my back pain i got 14 pts but need 15 to stay on the sick. The person who gave the medical was a nurse practitioner who wasnt an expert in spinal injuries, so how is he qualified to say if im fit or not??

I agree and am livid on your behalf! As a manager of a Citizens Advice Bureau (before I had to take early retirement on health grounds-with back problems!) I saw this type of thing so many times under the old system, and it will be much worse now.

Please go to your locaL CAB and ask them to represent you. Whether they are a volunteer or a paid worker, they have experience of the whole process and the expertise on the use of the best tactics.

Most importantly, they will believe you and stop you feeling a fraud. It's bad enough being in constant pain without having the DWP makubg you feel you are making things up!!

We were always short staffed when I worked in the CAB and I expect the situation is much the same now. However, any wait will be worth it!

Best of luck to you :)

thanks very much, its not that they disnt believe me its that he didnt even have my records with him which would have shown the extent of the injuries i received, disgusting .

Unfortunately it isn't about how your disability stops you doing things. It is about what you can do. Not forgetting of course the DWP intend to cut the DLA/PIP bill by 20% making the whole thing a cost cutting exercise. At least Chronic Pain is now a recognised physical disability - not tha it helps much.

I live in Scotland and the same rules apply here as for the rest of the UK. I was refused DLA due to peripheral neuropathy as I am not paralysed and being in pain doesn't come on their radar!! The same rules are in place for Blue Badge issue too. Having said that, the NHS up here has not let me down, though it has been very slow. I have seen my GP, 3 consultants, appointments at the Pain Clinic and been an inpatient for a lignocaine infusion at the only hospital that does it in Scotland, And we do have beautiful scenery too!! Good luck with it all and it's good to know that there are others in the same boat. x x

I agree. I had my disability 6 years ago at work as a nurse being attacked by a patient. Even though on the strongest medications you think of just to stay working. No one ever told me what benefit I can get nor do I get any help from the government. while I carried on working until this year August when I collapsed at home with pain and was admitted. Had 2 epidural injections in the past which didn't help. Had a nerve block while on hospital admission with the hope of having X-stopper only to be told I won't need it as urgent any longer. Now wheelchair bond.

Got higher rate for mobility but lower for care needs. Even though I'm too tired most of the time and had falls twice in the past week. A lot of benefits goes unclaimed yet the govt giving it to the right people
