Hello, I’ve got shingles I believe so researching about it. The pain is unbelievable and can only compare to an episode of back pain by trapped nerves some years ago. Will I ever recover from this pain I ask myself now that the rash is calming down?

shingles

Hi I’m the same! I’ve had shingles for 10 days and my rash is fading but stabbing and burning pain is as bad as ever. I’ve also got really painful muscle spasms in my chest and back which take my breath away. I’ve been given Gabapentin by the Gp but it doesn’t seem to help much.
Hi, more research needs to done into shingles. Yes I agree with most who say gabapentin does not work well if at all. Because of this and stressful conditions you may need to look at your diet cutting sugar, alcohol intake. Have a look at your stress levels, limit your citrus intake.
I am NOT a dr, probably should have been.
Suggest you get to a good homeopath. Helped me a lot, but I forget the remedies now incl ?'Poison Ivy'. `Also Colloidal silver in strongest form. I am not a doc but like to help as I can. I have PSP past ten yrs or sp (now 83). Best wishes. Timbow PSP
did you get the vaccine?
Did you go straight to the dr to get antivirals? You need these but there is a short time span. I was lucky but they don’t help very much. I was already on Gabapentin which helped so your dr may prescribe them for you. Shingles does take a long time to get over, get plenty of rest. It took about 6 months for me. The best lotion to put on is Aveeno. I bought a couple of paperback books from Amazon about Shingles which helped me to understand it. Get well ‘soon’. BW Isobel in UK.
I caught shingles in its current form 4 years ago, and been blighted by what is termed post herpetic neuralgia. I've tried capsicum, lidocaine patches, gabapentin, duroxetine to no use. My docs tried nerve blockers but they worked for about 1 month. Now they talk about a spinal chord stimulator but I'm wary of having something in me that can interact or interfere with other gadgets. Has anybody heard of this?
Hi, I have Ramsey Hunt Syndrome a very intense painful head and face leaking shingles. For me the pain doesn’t go away but…. For yourself it depends, most people with normal shingles the pain leaves. However the more times you have it you may suffer from neuralgia of one type or another. In my case my ganglia the trigeminal divisions have been affected. There is always pain.
I hope you recover fully. If eating becomes a problem, eat light soft food. Drink a lot of water and limit your sugar intake. Green tea or drinks with detox can help after the blisters are drying. To be drank after your medication is completed!
