has anybody in the UK had any success with using medical cannabis for pain please? I’ve tried pretty much every pain medication for my back pain but nothing helps or I can’t deal with the side effects. It seems a bit confusing where to get it and cost etc.
any help would be appreciated please
thank you

For me it was good but I know people's experiences vary a lot. I'd strongly recommend the resources flagged up by PCP as well as this one: drugscience.org.uk/t21
Hi, I can tell you that my wife tried medical grade cannabis from The Sapphire Clinic with the full approval of her very supportive GP. She is unable to take pain killers due to severe allergic reactions, especially to NSAIDs. She has severe osteoporosis with at least 14 spontaneous fractures so like you, back pain 24 hours a day. Sadly, after 6 months of trying various combinations and spending a lot of money, we had to admit that it simply wasn't working for her. Everyone is an individual of course so do at least try it. We wish you lots of good luck.
i went privately to a pain management specialist in London we prescribed it for me and I tried two different doses the first one I didn’t feel did anything except give me a headache and urine retention so he upped the dose to a stronger combination with higher THC and I really did not get on with it I had heart palpitations and was tired all the time plus it really didn’t help with my pain. Everyone is different but there are many combinations with different THC levels but I just didn’t like the effects of it I had terrible paranoia the only plus was it helped me sleep but I was sleepy all the time and just felt out of it. My GP was fully aware etc but it was prescribed and delivered via my pain consultant not my GP it’s also very expensive the last bottle was tiny and cost around £180 I think. I don’t know about the nhs route but I’m glad I didn’t waste lots of time waiting only to find out I didn’t like it at all. Good luck and I hope you find something to help you as I’m still on that journey myself xx
It's been life changing for me. There are about 50k privately prescribed patients in the UK now. I'm off all pharmaceutical medication now with the exception of the odd pain crisis requiring a few doses of something in addition to my MC.
You need to get a Summary Of Care from your GP, then pick a clinic (there's loads out there - all much for a much. Integro, Alternaleaf and Curaleaf are popular choices. Releaf and Treat It charge over RRP for medication. All provide a similar service. It's a simple process and shouldn't take too long from application to approval, if you're eligible
