I had a ruptured Baker’s Cyst in January 2020. I had no idea I had the cyst. Prior to rupture my only symptoms were stiffness and slight movement restriction. When it ruptured, I had severe cramp in the front of my knee followed about 3 minutes later by equally appalling cramp in the back of my knee. Following the cramp I had severe pain down the front of my leg and lost movement in it. I was in hospital for 36 hours, a blood clot was ruled out and I was given morphine for the pain. A scan revealed an empty sac suspicious of a ruptured Baker’s Cyst. Fortunately the movement came back spontaneously. Last month a rheumatologist found a small Baker’s Cyst behind the same knee. It is symptom free. He did say that if it became problematic he could drain it under ultrasound control. Perhaps this is something that could prevent you from having a rupture. It was an extremely painful experience! The best of luck.
