I am on 60mg MST Morphine twice a day as well as liquid morphine for breakthrough pain but recently my pain has got a lot worse. The GP says there is nothing else stronger he can give me but I'm in agony his suggestion was to go to A & E?!! Have any of you any suggestions as to what I should do?

I wish I could help - I am in a lot of pain each day, but obviously not as bad as you yet. From what you say, I suggest you go to A&E- at least they will treat you on the spot and they might come up with something you could take home. Good luck .

i would go to A%E at least the dotor knows that your serious about getting some help for your pain and putting him to shame if you have to take this measure of going to the hospital. it shows that he has let you down.

I agree that A & E probably isn't the best option - at worst you may just become known as a drug-seeker, and at best they will give you one dose of something and send you home again. Pain clinic probably is the best option. They can review your current treatment and adjust it to make it work better for you. They also have a range of other kinds of treatments available that might be appropriate too.

Hi, i am sorry to hear about your pain. i do know there are very few doctosr who can listen to the patient. What about if you ask your doctor to send you see a specialist.

Hope you are getting better soon.

iv gone to A%E when in pain out of hours. i am the one who decides if its an emergency and i have always been treated. it does not need to be an accident.if you have gallstones its not an accident if it gets stuck in your bile duct. also when i had hep c. i went to the doctor and was sent home with ibuprofen. and i also had terrible symptoms of something else my legs were covered in red dots and my whole body was in agony. my doctor said to me " i dont know what you'v got but you;v got it bad" im jack easy about overworked staff at hospitals. thats their job. i'v been in hospital and i can tell you its a dangerous place to be. the surgeons are fantastic its the nurses half of them are in dream land i had to stay on top of them to keep them right. when i went to A%E the doctors gave me very strong pain killers and penicillin into my vein. i took pics of this when i went to hospital and i still have them and there are 3 nurses in the back gound all leaning on a counter with thier back to me all standing the same way. my gp could not find out what was wrong with me. i found it on the computer i had to go back and tell him what to test me for.i had cryoglobulinemia. im glad i know how to look after myself and dont listen to folks like you paton. cryoglobulinemia is a very serious illness. when you get cold your blood turn to gel and does not run through your viens and your organs start to shut down, your not plalying your doctor of against the hospital its not a game when you in terrible pain and suffering. its pain relief your looking for and a diagnosis.did you read the post correctly. his doctor suggested he go to A%E so how is he playing him off against hospitals if the doctor suggested it. maybe you should get in touch with his docor and tell his doctor its not an accident nor an emergency.

Ask to be referred to the pain clinic, I was recently there after referral and on morphine tablets & liquid.

Consultant is weaning me off morphine over next six months as he sed it's not the be all and end all of painkillers !!

He's gonna get me on gabapentin or pregablin when finally off morphine.

My GP keeps telling me there's no further painkillers but there are according to my pain clinic consultant

Hope this helps x

Phoned my pain consultant and she gave me Ketamine on script ... so far so good not perfect but better than before thing is I'm worried cos my tolerance to drugs is very high so where do I go from here?!?!!

I am in a similar position to you. I am on several painkillers but none of them offer any pain relief. My GP has told me that he cannot give me any different medication or increase what I take.

I almost pleaded with him to give me something else but he refused. So I am just left in serious pain unable to sleep for more than a couple of hours a night. I don't know what to do or where to go.

The other day whilst out with my husband waiting to cross the road, an articulated lorry came towards us and all I could think of was stepping out in front of the lorry.
