Hi all. I wrote , previously and thank you to everybody who replied. I have had about 3 week's of Tramadol 50 mg and they have done nothing much for the pain so my Dr. told me to stop them and he has prescribed PreGablin. Question please! Can I just stop taking Tramadol after 3 week's and not have withdrawal or do I still have to taper ? Having gone through 9 hell on earth week's withdrawal from suddenly stopping Dipipanone and Cyclizine/ Diconal, I REALLY don't want to go through that again! My Dr. doesn't seem to have a clue about medication and I had to tell him that I know that I can't take Tramadol and Oramorph! Apparently, I can take Oramorph and PreGablin! The medic's here and at our hospital are trying to bump me off... it certainly feels that way what with the cancer misdiagnosis ! I had to go for a spine Xray a couple of day's ago to see whether another vertebrae has fractured because the spine pain has been getting worse and with hardly any painkiller's , my stomach pain is , also, much worse and I can't take much more of this. Why don't Dr.s care any more?!

Sorry for all your woes.

You could probably stop the Tramadol instant, but given your horrible experiences, it might be wiser to taper off more slowly.

Either by extending the timing of each tablet or cutting one out completely.

I'm not sure if you can cut Tramadol tablets in half. The 50 mg ones are not extended release,so it might be possible. Which would give you more options.

The other option is to go cold turkey and see how you manage. No big deal to hurriedly revert to the old set up if it doesn't go well!!💚

Good luck.

As far as I’m concerned I’ve found pharmacists much more helpful and knowledgeable than GP’s when discussing medication queries, it is their field of expertise. I have had a couple of telephone consultations with the pharmacist at my surgery which have been worthwhile.

Hope things improve for you.

i agree with the post about talking to your pharmacist they know far more about medication, i was on Tramadol some years ago and it made me severely depressed and my GP changed it to Pregablin and i think i swopped straight over but double check with your pharmacist first to be safe.

Not what you're looking for?
