pain in upper abdomen right hand side. Had this a few weeks
Hi Maisie 1, the usual one in that side is gallbladder, however speaking from experience the pain does not normally last for weeks its usually severe for around twenty four hours and would make you ring out of hours or the GP and the pain often radiates to shoulder. But you should still seek GP advice as they may be able to decide what it is and there maybe some treatment. Have you tried taking something like milk of magnesia, the GP would be asking is the pain constant , or brought on by food , any sickness , waterwork problems ect It could even be muscular from lifting things. As you say yourself there are lots of organs in our body that can go wrong and persitant pain needs advice. Take care & best wishes
Yeah, Maisie 1 it's definitely worth seeing a GP if you're concerned about this pain and you know where we all are if you need any more advice once you have seen someone too. Good luck.x
Could be your liver or gall bladder. I get pain in my liver because of perhaps having fatty tissue. My gall bladder has a gall stone that needs to be removed. Get evaluated for your condition, putting it off might create more problems.
So I suffered from this quite a bit over the past three years. Upper right quadrant pain. It would come on suddenly. I had gallbladder function tests that came back fine. Eventually I landed in the ER when the pain became unbearable. It turns out that I have ovarian cysts that are the culprit. They aren't concerning at this point, but whenever I ovulate on that side, I get a few days of this upper quadrant pain. I remember the first time it hit, I thought my appendix exploded. I am allergic to all pain killers but Tylenol. I try to take that each month when I am ovulating....in hopes that I don't get the pain.
But to everyone else's point, if it persists you should get seen. I put so many health issues off for so long that I've dug a pit of myself!
Need full workup..exam, labs, possible echo or CT...sounds like a ÷e would be appropriate.
