Was a healthy 68 year old until I contracted COVID-19 in May 2022. Approximately, two weeks after getting over the covid, severe muscle aches and pains occurred. Spent a week in pain until doctor diagnosed PMR and put me on Prednisone. For the past year my pain is tolerable but not gone. Five months ago my rheumatologist started me on Hydroxychloroquine and continued a slow schedule of weaning me off Prednisone. Currently taking 400mg Hydroxy and 3mg Pred daily.

hello - I’ve been on hydroxychloriquine for over 20 years and has saved my kidneys and eyes as well as my joints getting out of control. I will tell you, right up front that it is not a pain medication but rather it controls my disease from getting worse. I have lupus and it attacks my internal organs - my kidneys are both damaged and it could only be found through a kidney biopsy. I had tests showing blood & protein in my urine samples and my blood tests showed a lot of strange levels of anti bodies and I didn’t test positive for lupus so the doctors were baffled until the biopsy. I also had iritis several times which I could not see to drive or watch tv and I had learned to live with joint pain since I was a child. Once kidneys showed damage I was immediately put on hydroxychloriquine and everything stopped progressing! I was then diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis & fibromyalgia as well because of my other symptoms including pain! Fibromyalgia causes nerve pain so it’s double pain but I’ve never used anything for either pain because I never wanted to be on any opioids so I used Tylenol arthritis. I have been more interested in a cure which there still isn’t one for any of those auto immune diseases. It took me a few years to get the dosage right because the doctors had me on 400 mg daily every morning. My side effects were horrible - nausea and or diarrhea and vomiting within first hour. Then I went on 200mg morning and dinner and it’s saved my body from attacking vital organs in my body and no further damage to my joint swelling, eyes and kidneys to this day - about 25 years.

I have since gotten osteoarthritis which is a normal issue at my age with use of my hands continually and I have also have been diagnosed with myasthenia gravis now which is a rare autoimmune disease as well. My diseases are all manageable but as far as pain relief for fibromyalgia pain in my nerves - I now take gabapentin which was great but it no longer works so I’m back to living with it all but thankful for the hydroxychloriquine as it’s a life saver.

Hope this helps somewhat. It’s a life saver and the rest is treated with hot baths and heating pads.

I am not a doctor, but my first question is: Did you recover from Covid by your own immune system, or did you have the jab? Here in UK the govt advice was to NOT jab if you have anything like PSP, etc. That advice was taken down quite soon, but I saw and followed it. I am still alive and quite active ... with PSP. Good luck and best wishes. TimbowPSP.
