I had a Laminectomy forSevere Spinal Stenosis which initially worked but has now failed and is worse than before. I had a Triple Bypass and Mitral Valve Repair and have now been diagnosed with heart failure so I’m not able to take any of the normal pain relief medication. The GP has now referred me to the Pain Management Clinic with (Suspected Cauda Equina Syndrome).
Anyone had similar problems or advise on how to cope with this?
Kind regards
David

Hi Davewm I had back surgery in 1999 emergency operation due to cauda equina syndrome my nerve was cut to bowels so on meds for life. You just learn to deal with it hope your well tc
I too had failed surgery and Cauda Equina Syndrome, they were unable to re operate as they said I would be paralysed. Fortunately after around 2 months of rest and being catheterised and then on a flip flow, things settled down swelling wise however I was left with severe pain. After trying everything, I was referred by pain management for a spinal cord stimulator. This was fantastic but sadly went wrong and due to scar tissue, I am now on the waiting list for another one with paddles rather than leads. I truly hope everything settles down for you too, rest as advised etc. and take care of your back.
Thank you so much for your reply. The Pain Consultant said Spinal Cord Stimulator would only give me a 30% chance of success. So I’ve decided against it as I’ve had so many other problems with my heart etc. I do hope your health improves. Thanks again.
