Sorry but I don’t know enough about UC to help you but have you thought of contacting CAB? They may well be able to advise you. Also check with your local council - they often have something called “money advice unit” who again can advise you.

Hope you get some helpful answers.

Claiming benefits is no easy challenge, whether you go for Job Seekers or Disability and the support is somewhat lacking, in comparison to what it was like through the 90's and early 00's. Just from the your brief, you are hoping to be placed on the 'Disability' element of UC and so I'm going to say STOP.

Check your area and see if you can claim ESA and PIP, if it's still available and applicable, apply for both.

There are lots of helpful sites in applying for benefits, what to expect from the assessments and right through how to correctly apply (Don't just put what they ask, as they are looking for specific descriptors in your application).

PIP:

google.com/search?q=pip+ben...

ESA:

google.com/search?q=esa+ben...

Learn them and use them.

Make sure you've got the full backing of your GP, as most claims for UC/ESA/PIP are either declined or not correctly awarded and so you may have to post an appeal once your claim is awarded or not awarded and then your troubles begin.

CAB, SHELTER and other charities offer help and information on how to apply for new applicants and can help you with the application process as well.

Feel free to message me, if you have any questions. I used to work under contract for DWP, as well as now being a full ESA/PIP claimant.
