I’m only just recovering from a tooth extraction palava where I got an infection and aching loads. Then suddenly pain got worse and it’s this problem! Awful. Hands are better but mouth won’t get better. Spots r clearing up but that original tooth area is killing. Is that to do with the hfmd or the original infection? Anybody any ideas 😢😢😢😢

If your pain is at the site if your extraction, do consider speaking to your dentist.

There is a problem after extraction called 'dry socket', which belies the level of pain- it's horrendous and unrelenting.

If you do have a 'dry socket', your dentist will need to put dressings on/into it and it will then heal.

I have no idea if your problem is to do with your hand foot and mouth disease or not but you should ask your dentist to check you out.

Sympathy if you have a dry socket, it's a nasty pain but with treatment, will improve and completely heal.

Wishing you better.

I do sympathise. With most of the teeth I have had extracted despite being very careful not to swill around with mouth rinse or salt, I inevitably end up with a dry socket. The worst was when i had a wisdom tooth out 2 years or so ago and ended up with an infected jaw. You probably need antibiotics, I certainly wouldnt let it go on. I am confused about the hand, foot and mouth disease as that is a separate issue usually suffered by children.

I agree that there is probably 2 separate issues going on. Although it is well known that if unwell then people are more suspicious to other illnesses. I am bemused by your comment that hand, foot and mouth disease is “usually suffered by children “. Adults can still get “childhood illnesses “. I had years of suffering from tonsillitis as an adult and even had mumps as adult. My neighbour has just had children pox caught from his children. What is known is that often when adults catch these common “childhood illnesses “ they are often far sicker than children who seem to be able to fight off the infections easily .

The NHS always gets it wrong 🤔nhs.uk/conditions/hand-foot...

Sorry (and it’s probably me being daft) but I don’t understand the point you are making? Information cleared states can affect adults as well as children. Even gives details of what to do if in contact with someone with condition if pregnant.
