Today i had emergency treatment for pain/abscess..he performed Part 1 of Root Canal ..(didn't know there were 3 parts.)😨after 3 injections, he said i must speak to my Dentist on Monday re ongoing treatment but said the tooth he treated today is difficult as its a small molar between 2 other teeth one of which is a gold crown which he thought was the infected tooth but with x-rays he changed his mind. Also, he put a drain in abscess before treating this tooth but still have the abscess? Is this normal?
I asked if it was blocked nerve was due to infection and he said No, but didn't offer any other info??? .What is going on...i'm still quite numb but does anyone have any info on this problem?
Thanks in advance😕

Just trying to save your tooth. You may need more treatment or an extraction.
I have been waiting for my tooth to be treated after an abscess but here in Scotland emergency dentists are removing teeth instead of treatment so I just have to wait to see my dentist.
You could have a long wait. Going to be months clearing backlog and dentist are going to be avoiding AGP treatment. Which is anything to do with using high speed drills🥴
Normal treatment would be open the tooth, clean out the infection in the root canal and put a dressing and temp filling in, repeat in a week then when all infection and nerve tissue is gone and canal is sterile a root filling and either permanent filling or crown is done. Sometimes the root canal will be left open for infection to drain then the above would done when infection has cleared up. Hope that helps.
Hi, yes my abscess has now disappeared although still have a tender area just below nostril and soo grateful to have appt. next Monday for an extraction of one tooth and maybe they will also treat the lower broken tooth as this makes my jaw ache.
