Sorry but no being on PIP does not give you free eye tests. You can get free eye tests with certain medical conditions such as diabetes. Or if close relatives ie parents have glaucoma. Or if on certain means tested benefits. Sometimes work will reimburse eye tests if doing a lot of computer work.

But no the vast majority of people do have to pay around £25.

As an aside it is really important that people do have regular eye tests. Ideally every 2 years. Eye tests can pick up all sorts of conditions (not just eye issues) and are an important part of health care.

Hi, no sorry you don't get free tests for headaches or even most eye complaints including Toxic Retinitis, which is what I am diagnosed with by the eye hospital and if I was not on ESA then I would have to pay and so the only way of getting help with eye tests and glasses is if you are on a low income or certain benefits such as Universal Credit or ESA not the Contribution part the other, sorry can't remember the name of it but I am on it, but either way still try to claim, because you will get a free NHS eye test, voucher towards lenses and glasses & also free dental treatment and prescriptions. If you think that you may be entitled to, get in touch with NHS Buisiness Services Authority on 0300 330 1343 for a HC2 Claim form.
