Hi Teapot66,Sorry your going through this, its absolutely horrible and agony at times, my gp gave me loads of stuff and in the end couldn't bear it got to the stage where I asked the doctor in the hospital to amputate my hip/leg he checked me over and gave my co-drydamol that's the best one he gave me and still use them now if it starts up again, hope this helps and praying for you

I had Amitriptyline 10mg, and zapain. But then had a reaction to zapain so then given co-drydamol. It helped.

I found that hot hot water bottles were the only thing that worked for me when I was in a bad flare up.

Thankyou very much for your reply i to use ice and hot water bottle thankyou for your replyx

Unfortunately, the best drugs are whatever is best for you. Everyone responds differently to a drug. I never took prescribed drugs for my sciatica (flared up in 2018, comes and goes). I took over-the-counter drugs and got PT. The physical therapy was really the most helpful. Have you tried that? Your doctor would have to prescribe physical therapy, I think. ( I'm in the US., and that's how I have to do it. You may be different.)

Hot water bottles really helps me . I do take Amitriptyline and Cocodamol or paracetamol but I prefer not to as painkillers make me constipated . I have a combination of rest and walking for sciatica pain try not to sit in one position . It’s better to lay out and stretch

vitality101.com/health-a-z/... people know Dr. Teitelbaum from his books. From Fatigue to Fantastic was one of them from decades ago. He has quite the knowledge of pain and what may address the different types.

Well, i damaged my L5S1 vertebrae and subsequently my sciatic nerve in my right leg. I was given a host of drugs, cocodamol(rubbish) , etc until i was put on Gabapentin.this was good after a couple of weeks. My doctor started me on 1100 mgs per day then upped it to 1800mgs per day after a month then finally up to 2700mgs per day. I feel somedays it should be higher but he also gave me naproxin to take to help ease the pain. It works mostly but some days are still bad. However life quality has improved. Maybe you should try it?Wish you well.

I use Duloxotine in conjunction with TENs unit, heat/ice, stretches, and foam rollers to help relax the muscles around my spine. I also have a topical compounded medication that has cyclobenzaprine, gabapentin, and diclofenac that helps a lot.
