Chest Pain, fear of heart attack.

Hi, I’m 20 year old man. I’ve suffered with anxiety a while but like don’t want to blow this off to it but it could be. So I had this sudden crushing chest pain 2 days ago, went into instant panic attack. Sat down with my mum and could talk and walk around but was fearing I was having a heart attack. We called 111 spoke with a dr after and they said I shouldn’t be worried despite the symptoms. I also had an Echocardiogram, ECG and bloods done in the last two months and all were great even seen a cardiologist but I’m still having this sudden pain come on and off over the last couple days. Is it possible that I’ve had a heart attack, is it my anxiety, just genuinely worried.

You should have thyroid testing done including antibodies NOT just TSH you need FT3,FT4, T3, TSH and antibodies …. I suffered for years with severe panic attacks that would come out of the blue only to discover that I had thyroid disease.(Hashimoto’s and Graves).

My thyroid was checked and it was underactive at 22.3 so I took medication and got it back down to a normal level and stopped the medication. I don’t know if I should start it again maybe it’s got worse again.

Good grief no wonder your feeling bad YOU CAN NOT STOP thyroid meds even if your feeling better and you got to go get retested again and join the thyroid group here. Wow

No once you start thyroid medication you stay on it and doctor will adjust as needed based on thyroid test …. Its no wonder your having the issues your having…. Please go back to your doctor as soon as possible and have thyroid test done . If you have Hashimoto’s disease you can feel good for a while and then you start to feel bad…. Join the thyroid group on healthlocked.

Yeah I’ve joined it now. I’ve recently registered to a new GP so need to wait to get some blood tests done again, it’s just 25mg levothyroxine got me down from 22 to the normal range so thought it’d be fine to stop but maybe I should restart the 25mg tablets

25mcg is such a small dose and I believe that’s usually given to the elderly. Was your Doctor aware you stopped thyroid meds and when did you stop them? How long after stopping did you start with the anxiety issues?

Read the thyroid forum and you will get and eye full of information about when is the best time to do thyroid test and much, much more …. I think your giving yourself issues by stopping the thyroid meds like you did even though it was a small amount.

The 50mg ones were very weird for me. Made me feel very hot and gave me heart palpitations. I’ve had the health anxiety since about may last year but diagnosed with thyroid disorder in October took my meds for two months and it went down to a normal level so thought everything was ok. The 25mg ones seemed to work perfectly.

You really need to have blood test … so many things can go on with thyroid meds like allergies to inactive ingredients that are disastrous like the inactive ingredient called Acacia which is (pure poison) each manufacturer has different inactive ingredients.

I was on 50mcg a new manufacture and I thought it was free of additives only to find out after suffering heart palpitations, hives and breathing issues for months that it contained Acacia which Im crazy allergic too.

I am no expert but it sounds like your anxiety going wild. Did you have pain in your arm? You should always contact your doctor if you think you are in trouble, they have a duty of care. I’m in the UK too.

Yeah I know, didn’t have a shooting pain but just aches but I assume that’s just my anxiety. Well it’s been 3 days, surely I’d know if it was a heart attack by now. I did contact 111 on the day and they didn’t think I needed to be seen so a dr called be back and said it’s not one but just the brain goes wild

I think you ought to ask your GP if it could be costochronditus, I’ve had this for over 20 years and it sounds like the attacks I’ve had recently had it flared up really bad, I dosed up on naproxen and it did ease it to a manageable level

I see you have had the all clear with an ECG, has anyone mentioned the possibility that it is costochondritis?

The thing is the ecg was the week before and everything was fine, no it hasn’t been mentioned but like as it’s been 3 days I assume it wasn’t a heart attack so maybe it could be costochondritis.

Costochondritis could be a possibility I have it often and it feels like I'm being stabbed in heart ..don't worry to much best of luck xxx
