Venalfaxine and Sleep

Hi, Have just started on Venalfaxine a month into it and there have been many positives and some negatives, I get the impression it suits some and not others although people can tend to over report the issues.

Positives for me were pain management, no more opiates, no more pain , no more depression

Negatives RLS, sleeplessness, some people report coming off it can be difficult but I can't personally comment on that yetit.

My main issue is sleep. Over the last month I have had repeated periods where I have been unable to sleep for multiple days (6 days was the longest) 3 days very common. This has seemed to be constant over a dose range f 75 to 150mg venlablu. Zopelcon, drowsy antihistamines, good sleep hygiene, exercise, and diazapham make absolutely no difference.

The positives are so good, but I can't cope with the sleeping issue, it's not that I am tired although I get more clumsy as the days progress. And I try to ignore the anxiety issues of not sleeping.

Can anyone provide comment on this sleeping pattern as I can't seem to get to a frame of reference into how much of a good or bad thing it is?

Thanks

Barry

Sleep deprivation is used as torture by many governments i.e. at Guantonomo. It can affect your brain , your hormonal system and every organ in your body. Please consult your doc ASAP regarding this.

I have similar sleep issues w/ Venlafaxine. If you currently take it at night, try taking it in the morning?

I've been reducing my dose (very gradually), starting from 375mg/day, and that does seem to have helped.

Sometimes things even out over time... I'd talk to your doc, though.

Thanks, things have moved on now. I started to develop a rash on knees and elbows not itching but visually very scaly and red and a cough. So with that and sleep prescribing consultant told to come off it. Was on it for no more than 4 weeks with a max dose of 150mg. A bit concerned with the no taper aspect of being told to stop but my body and mind were OK.

I think my mood is still improved, pain is starting to come back, sleep improving and rash cough settling down.
