Hi, I use buprenophine and I find they work for me don’t get me wrong they cannot get rid of the pain totally but it does take the edge off so your day is slightly bearable. You have to experiment with dosage to find what’s right for you. I started with 5mcg patch and worked up in fives to 35mcg but we(I and doctor) found that was to much and dropped down to 30mcg this seems to be the best for me but everyone is different. Good luck hope you find what works for you. Kevin
Hi
Thanks for your reply I will ask dr about those, I have been in lidocaine patches 5 mg but they don’t work .
Do you get any side effects from these patches ?
It can make you sleepy but everyone is different, I already suffer with over sleeping up to 30hrs at a time but I have a referral to the sleep clinic hopefully soon.
My pain doctor ordered 5% lidocaine patches works really well. Hope that helps some. I use these until I can get my steroid spinal injection which lasts anywhere from 3-4 months.
I tried a Kailo patch for ciatic pain and works but not sure if it would work for your condition. It is no prescription.
well if you’re looking for pain medicine in a patch then that would be fentanyl. I never liked the patch because you can’t really control the amount you’re getting because you’re not supposed to remove them but it releases the medicine slow and it’s for 24 hours. Oxycodone works the best for me. OxyContin even better, but there is no generic for OxyContin so insurances don’t want to pay for more then 2 pills in a 24 hour period. Each pill supposed to last 12 hours but they never did for me. They lasted about 4 to 6 hours so the doctor give me three a day. Then my insurance started complaining so I had to go back to the oxycodone 30 mg instant release.
I don't use patches but take Co-codamol and Nortriptyline at night which helps with nerve pain down leg. It is different for everyone as it depends on how bad the stenosis is. Initially I had eight weeks of physiotherapy, which did help in the lumbar area, and I try to do some core muscles strengthening exercises, so I don't need to Co-codamol all the time. I also have cervical osteophytes which can press on the nerves. It is fairly stable at the moment and I avoid neck movements which would make it worse. I try to use just enough pain medication in order to manage in case it gets worse later on!
Hope you find something suitable for you.
Hey Chillichicken,
I’m on Buprenorphine patches for my stenosis. The other medication doesn’t help me but we are all different. They also give me slow release tramadol but that doesn’t help that much to be honest.
