Nefopam: Can anyone advise me about Nefopam. I... - Pain Concern
Nefopam
I’ve been taking it for about 5 weeks about an hour before bed without any problem, it took a good 3 weeks to start working.
It hasn’t caused me any sleep disturbance, but I use sleep music to help me drift off anyway.
Perhaps try taking it slightly earlier than you do.
I have been using it since August. Up to 3x3/day. Insomnia terrible from the start. Changed to taking evening one at 8pm and go to bed around 11pm, but still occasionally am awake all night. If I take any earlier effects are worn off by time I need it. I am also now experiencing terrible stomach problems - pain and diarrhoea. Dropped to 2,2,3 a day and has eased a bit but not totally. Dropping has made pain return. I like the pain relief it gives (to some pain at least), but am also struggling with side effects.
Thanks for your reply. Nefopam is really good for pain relief and now taking it earlier in the day. So far the only side effects have been insogmia. I struggle with all pain relief medication, co codomol and tramadol being the worst. Hope you manage to overcome your stomach problems.
Thank you. Going to call doc next week as it is debilitating. Sensitive to every other drug given. Was on huge amounts of cocodamol for years. But now weaned off I don't want to go back to it.
Good luck with getting it sorted. Would be interested to hear what the doctor recommen ds.
So yesterday I decided to come off it completely. I'm still plagued by bad stomach. I think a month or so off everything may give body a chance to get back to normal. I'm open to give it another try but need all drugs out of system before I try again. Pain is intense but body needs to adjust first. If only this was easy.
Good to hear you are off nefopam. I went to doctors last Wednesday, after waiting three weeks for an appointment, he said nefopam was a very powerful and addictive drug. I only took it because my flare up was the worst I had experienced. I am now managing with ibuprofen. He gave me a steroid injection for my shoulder, but said I really needed a shoulder replacement! Do hope managed alright without meds for a while.
