Woke one morning in terrible pain all over, could hardly move. Managed to contact one Dr who said Sciatica and gave high strength co-codamol. They did not work so spoke to another Dr who gave prednisodol 12 x 5m a day for 7 days. Overnight, pain almost gone. 7 days later another Dr reduces dose to 11 x5m a day for 7 days then down to 10 x 5m for 7 days and so on. Does anyone know if this is the correct way to treat whatever it is I have.. Have not been confirmed as having any specific complaint. Not even had a blood test?Should I seek a rhuematologists advice , even if I have to go private?

You are being treated correctly for the drug and if its working for the moment I'd persevere. Hospital appointments are supposed to be for emergency only at present not just to verify a diagnosis. Obviouly your GP does not think it is urgent to send you to the hospital. Lots of things can cause joint pain, including Poly ateritis which some people confuse with Arthritis . Maybe your doctor does not think it is a Rheumatic pain. Best wishes for the pills to keep the pain at bay.
You MUST do exactly what YOU deem right. You may or may not have a serious condition and someone else’s unprofessional opinion has no bearing. Keep going until you are satisfied you have been correctly diagnosed. Don’t waste time, it’s not worth the worry. Always persevere.....you’ll get there once the medics know you are really serious.
