I hate doctors

I have had a bad case of constipation for more 4 years, let me tell you, I’m suffering rn I’m 18 I shouldn’t be going through this that’s embarrassing. Every Time I ask the doctor “what’s My condition?” they tell me the same stupid shit. I have been suffering for for YEARS. The constipation has gotten so bad, it happens EVERY TIME I put something in my mouth, the same dumb shit over and over, they tell me the same thing over and over. It doesn’t help ever! I sometimes question the logistics of those stupid doctors. I literally have to use medication to help me go to the bathroom, Every👏.Single👏.Time👏 That’s awful, I thought I would need that when I’m old, OLD. When I run out of medication I suffer. This has been contributing to my depression so hard. At this point I’ve decided not to eat anymore. Guess I’ll just freaking die. After I’m dead my mom can go sue those jerks for all they have and make them pay. Idc I’m being petty or salty about this shit, I have to decide this because I’m FORCED to.🤬

That's absolutely awful. They should have referred you to gastro. It took a long time but it was one particular Dr a couple of years ago to get the ball rolling for my 27 year old son. His condition isn't the same as yours but he has been messed about until this temporary Dr saw him. My troubles started approximately 6 years ago and it's still ongoing!! Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Sometimes, they can't give a diagnosis, because, either there isn't one or, they don't know. Has your doctor sent you for x-rays, and blood tests? Have they sent you for bm tests? Have you tried eating prunes and Kiwi fruits? I only found out about the Kiwi fruits by accident, and they have been my saviour.

Hello. Are you on Amitriptyline? The GP started me on this after botched foot surgery. It’s total rubbish, I’ve discovered. For 4 years I was horribly constipated. At times thought I would pass out with the pain in the bathroom. I looked again at the ‘contraindications’ and sure enough, amitriptyline can cause constipation. It also can cause fainting, and I did that too. GPs were no help, just wanted to give me more happy pills with the same contraindications. I’m fine. I cope. I’ve thrown away all these pills and when the pain in my foot is really bad, I sit with an ice pack on it. I have 4 ‘sleeves’ that you put a bottle of wine into to cool it quickly. These go over my foot. This really works. I keep them ready in the freezer. Ice is better than pills for inflammation for me. No more pills, constipation gone and no more feeling or actually fainting.

Don’t give up! A lot of pain meds cause constipation. I found out that a little magnesium can help. I started taking it for muscle pain and discovered how it loosens bowels. Since the usual dosages available in tablet form is way too strong for my intestines I use a little bit of magnesium powder and mix it with a juice drink.

Another option is to make yourself a fruit smoothie every morning. Years ago a friend of mine was mentioning her young daughter was constipated so I suggested a smoothie. Next time I saw her she told me her daughter insists on making a smoothie everyday, since she found relief so quickly.

If fruit isn’t your thing, a bowl of oatmeal in the morning helps.

Whatever you do, make sure you’re hydrating yourself with plenty of water. Best wishes.

We get it. You have to drink more water than what normal person does. And not all at once or it just flows through you. So sip constantly. Kiwi and pears are fantastic for constipation sometimes I buy and eat a whole can. Have you tried self massage for it? Try it on YouTube. They’re always pushing fibre & water but they often miss the fruit as it draws water in and the sugar in it softens it. Grapes are good too so are dates. I make smoothies too. It takes awhile to get a flow and your water level & types of foods you’re eating. If you eat meat you might not want to mix carbs with meat just vegetables and make sure you eat fruit later after that as a snack not bananas. Meds messed up my bowels to a high degree I feel your pain. And you guard from more stress.

1, do you eat a proper well balanced diet? Fruit n veg especially?

2, you must request to see a colorectal specialist... Up until now, it's your mum n dad's fault you haven't already seen one.

3, over the counter DOLCOSOFT, can really help without giving you the shits.

4, I have a tube n pump that goes up my arse to shit! Yep, I too have suffered for years n years. In fact I have issues both ends! My esophagus doesn't work properly either, and I have to have bottox injections every few months into it.

5, change drs... Now you're 18, You can decide who you see. I've struggled under the wrong Dr for years, a constant battle... Especially verbal at times.... Then a friend told me of a fantastic new Dr at the surgery... Woohoo a Dr with a fantastic caring nature who understands my various health issues and treats me as an individual. Only once before did I have a Dr like this... Trouble is once you get a great Dr, all others are shit!

6, Now go speak.to friends who go to your surgery or other places and see what they say about their Dr.

Hi ...I can appreciate your frustration.

Firstly ,I notice you say you are depressed. Are you taking medication for that? If so, do look it up and find out if the meds are contributing to it. I know mirtazipine ( remeron) apart from being an anti-depressant is also an appetite stimulant.

I was suffering from depression a few years back and I just wasn't eating properly...hardly surprising... just filling up on rubbishy foods.. lots of carbs, biscuits, cake, chocolate etc. and got myself into a terrible state, both mentally and physically and got so bunged up I had to have enemas and worse etc!

The best way to resolve things is to eat lots of vegetable and fruit, as they contain fibre. Along with some protein and just a few carbs. Also make sure you drink enough fluids... not fizzy sweet drinks etc.

Apart from helping your system move properly, eating well balanced meals will make you feel better. Taking a bit of exercise also helps, even if it's just going for a brisk walk... even if you don't feel like it.. just try.

I know you probably think... here we go again, all these people preaching to you, but seriously, having experienced both depression and severe constipation... and I mean severe,

you don't want to end up in hospital like I did to remove a blockage.

It's not good to have to keeping taking meds for constipation, the system just gets used to it. If you want to get in touch and talk about your depression etc... please do.

OTC Miralax helped me considerably when my meds were making me miserable with constipation. What I liked about Miralax is that you put it in ANY liquid and give it a stir. There is absolutely no taste or gagging consistency - if I put it in water, I am sensing only the water when I put it into my mouth. I usually put it in juice or milk since I don't like water.

I also was constipated most of my early life into my late 20s. My doctors kept telling me to drink more water - YUCK! I've never been good with fluid intake and it was never enough when I made an effort to drink more. When I moved internationally, I had to be careful about the opposite condition from eating foods that weren't properly prepared! Amoebas and giardia will take care of your problem but they come with a host of bigger problems to get rid of them!

Now that I'm back in the US, I have occasions when constipation taps at my door once again. I have fruits on hand to keep the fiber in my diet but my go-to choice now is bean salad. I make it with 1 can each, drained - garbanzo beans (chickpeas), kidney beans, black-eyed peas, and wax beans. I chop some red onion and cilantro, add a tad of oil and LOTS of lime juice and let them all soak for a few hours to a few days. I serve up a bowl a day (1/2 to 1 C.), add more lime juice (I like it sour) and thoroughly enjoy every mouthful. The choice of beans can be yours - just be sure to include at least one can of legumes in the mix. Two would be better.

Prepare some soups and use lentils or other legumes. They are a big help. I find eggplant to be another food that gets things moving. Eggplant parmesan is easy to make, if you like to cook, or in frozen foods at most grocery stores. Use cabbage and/or spinach when cooking. I put spinach in eggs and add it to soups to get more green veggies in my diet. Cabbage is great in soups, too. Not so much in eggs. The nice things about these veggies is that they take on the flavor of whatever you put them in so you don't have to worry if you don't like them naked.

Walking helps get the bowel moving. Drinking a warm glass of water in the morning can kickstart the digestive tract. Coffee, I'm told, is great for that process. Older people drink prune juice or apricot juice (100%). 100% JUICE doesn't mean 100% of that particular fruit, so check the labels carefully. You don't want 10% prune juice supplemented with juices from apples, pears, etc. You need 100% of the labeled fruit.

I hope something I have put here strikes a thought of the possibility of trying it. I have no idea what you currently eat and I may totally be barking up the wrong tree. I'm just sharing what has helped ME overcome my miserable constipation when it hits. As a child I saw every doctor possible and had every test known to man, done. My father was a doctor and he tried his best to find the issue. But, I've learned that my body is what it is and, in the end, I have had to tweak things as I go along. What works well in one case (with a particular medication that binds me up) might not do anything with the next episode that could be from lack of exercise to failure to drink enough or from a dietary insufficiency.

Coconut water, magnesium bisglycinate, fruits, vegetables, clear broth soups with veggies and protein, walking, and getting another opinion would be my plan. You haven’t been assessed properly. Good luck.
