Chronic Intractable Pain & underlying Fibro.

Newbie here, just wondering if there were any sufferers of Chronic Intractable Pain and underlying Fibro?

I'm currently on a reduction dosage programme to omit my morphine & oxycodone from my ever growing prescription, as opiates are apparently no longer effective in chronic pain.

So alongside gnawing nauseating pain, I'm suffering withdrawals! Just wondered if there was any tips

With Thanks

Hi

Yes, reduce very slowly and maybe try what etheral has suggested. I hope everything goes ok for you. Please take care of yourself Lynne

Clonidine .1mg has been helpful to some as far as reducing withdrawal symptoms. The important thing is to taper the opioids very slowly.

I have severe chronic pain,RSD pain and etc 24/7. Was on tons of opiates and etc,but got off them because they got used to my body, dosages increased with less relief and withdrew on my own. I use medical marijuana with chiropractic, acupuncture. All really helps,no side effects or etc. Its not a cure but def relief.RE: withdrawls..depends on how long u were on the meds, and with others,n ur body.Going extremely slow was the best for me,along with the mm.Going down 1/4 pill or less and very slow was the key.It took me 6 years and Ive never looked back. You can do it !!! The end result will make u ALOT happier.

Drink lots of water, eat pineapple, take curcumin pills and try Pascoflaire. ( a natural anti anxiety ).

It’s a lie that opiates don’t help pain. If they are properly prescribed to you after trying every other possible treatment modality, they work.

It’s wrong that chronic pain patients taking their prescribed opiates properly are included in opiate deaths by true addicts who just want a high. I’m sorry they are weaning you off of them. I hope your withdrawal isn’t painful.

Opiates have never significantly helped my pain to date. I'm now taking 21ml or 42 mg of oramorph down from 50. I am desperate to get off it. It was prescribed so that I could stop taking 1 mg of buprenorphine which stops other opioids from working. It would have been better if they reduced the buprenorphine and didn't give the oramorph but instead 5ml of methadone. That was the initial plan. But, of course, oramorph is the one they want to push. I'm not sure why they don't prescribe low dose methadone. Is it the cost, the addiction risk? They are all addictive. My very severe lung condition means that I need a to be able to take effective painkillers when necessary. I also take voriconazole at the moment and citalopram. I've felt weak and unwell for ages.

Hi. Really sorry to hear this. I have a lot of pain all over but its something Ive had for years and the only thing that seemed to help me was diet. I paid a LOT of money to see a natural dietician and have stool tests to find out about the health of my gut. I was treated for a fungal infection and then we built up my immune system again with probiotics etc. Regular doctors just don't have a clue about nutrition, its ridiculous, as its the heart of everything going on in our systems. It did cost a lot of money but if you do have a way of doing it go to smart nutrition website and look at stool testing. My immune system was shot and causing me all over inflammation which was the pain problem for me. Tumeric helps with inflammation. It really depends what's wrong but I would seriously look at diet as it also helps with the way be react and deal with our pain. I wish you all the best. This weather really makes my pain flare up too, its horrible isn't it.
