I guess many of the meds you take won't help.

Speak to your pharmacist...he will advise you of an over the counter laxative you can buy.

A rather unusual set of questions, When did you last fart? Is your stomach bloated? Does your stomach hurt?

If you still have not had BM, ask your pharmacist about Senna and Lactulose, they are both naturally occurring substances that can work well, together, for constipation. DO NOT drink anything fizzy or alcohol, but do drink plenty of still water.

Hello muppet62.

Sorry to hear about your discomfort☹️

Have you tried movicol (you can buy it over the counter).

If not try giving it a go and use the ‘impact’ dose to start with.

Hi

I'm so sorry you are suffering. Movicol is very good, my Dad used to take it and it worked wonders, his Dr said once you are going again just take one sachet per day to keep you moving, one sachet won't give you the runs!! I have also found Senna very good. I've got to have Senna for 4 nights this week and then have moviprep ready for colonoscopy at weekend!!! 3 litres as 2 litres didn't empty me properly last time!! Not nice 🙁 . Hope you feel better soon. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Hi there, I take laxidos which help along with enemas as I have bowel dysfunction , nothing worse than being constipated and medication can also lead to being constipated , good luck.

I was told many years ago by a GP to eat pears, it works for me. I am currently taking Ferrous Sulphate so my stomach and motions are more of a problem, I do find making fresh vegetable soup helps when I have constipation. I cannot take any opiate meds for pain, due to severe side effects, not least constipation. I am on many meds for various heath problems though. I do wish you well. X

I eat porridge main with medium oatmeal ( soaked over night) and at least 6 or 7 portions of fruit and veg every day. Despite medications very rarely go a day without bowel movement.

Lactulose really helps but it takes a day or two to kick in. Pears really do work eat a can of them a day a big can. Lots of water. Once you do go keep eating the pears and if you need too drink boost. Warm magnesium baths to relax you bowels your can also take magnesium powder orally it helps too. You need the sugar and water fibre from the fruit to soften your stool. And lots of water. And the fibre for bulk once you get through I’m going through same thing it all made me anemic from pills. Been a living hell. If you look online there is also abdominal massage for constipation. It does help. And drinking bone broth heat pads in tummy.

Water enemas are a really easy solution. I don't know why more people don't know about this.

Have you tried Lactulose liquid from the Chemist. It tastes sweet and you can easily alter the amount you take. It helps me a lot.
