Butec 20 Problems

Anyone else have a problem with the itching will wearing and bad rashes with Butec 20

I've suffered from that as well. I've tried numerous things, and here are a couple that have helped.

After opening it and removing the backing, wave it for a full 1-2 minutes before applying it. This let's some of the harshest stuff evaporate.

Instead of putting it on freshly showered skin (sensitive) , I'd shower in the morning and then around supper time put on a thin/normal layer of any sort of antihistamine cream, then a couple hours later before bed apply the patch.

These didn't fix it entirely, but for me at least, made them usable. I've had success all the way past 50 mcg/h

Hi I use 30mcg/hr patches and had same problem but I asked for antihistamine tablets and they helped considerably. Hope it helps you Billyt47

It’s because of the high dose can cause irritation to the skin. Ask your doctor for 2 patches of 10mg each, instead of the 20mg in single patch. Honestly I had the same and it worked fine.

Hi there Billyt47. Yes I was put on these a few yrs ago. However after about 4/6 weeks I stopped taking them. As they were leaving welts and a rash on my skin. So I went back on my original patch. 😀

Yes...horrible skin reaction....GP said it wasn’t the drug but the adhesive used in the plaster...shame cos they provided good pain relief...tried all manufacturers on the market and was swapped to Fentanyl patches.
