Mixing alcohol and pregabalin creates side effects because of the way that they both act in the brain. While they do not work in the same way, their actions are similar enough that both of these substances will increase the effects of the other.

My advice is not to drink. There are plenty of alternatives...Elderfloer in the Green Bottle is bubbly and yummy.

Nhs web page and my sheet for my pregabalin say this

You can drink alcohol with pregabalin but it may make you feel sleepy or make you lose your focus.

During the first few days of taking pregabalin, it might be best to stop drinking alcohol until you see how the medicine affects you.

Thanks! I had a small amount of wine with my evening meal last night ( not nearly as much as I used to pre.-pregabalin and was fine - enjoyed even! So it's the old story ....MODERATION

Thanks, as long as I feel ok I'll risk the occasional wine. Boring always playing safe!

I'd keep the wine and ditch the Pregabalin. Evil stuff! 🍷

It did nothing for my pain but I piled on weight very quickly. It's an acknowledged side effect but the GP never warned me and I am unable to exercise so it was months of strict dieting to get the unwanted weight off.

Precisely! GP didn't warn me either (I think it's unlikely he knew.) The problem is, we're in so much pain, we feel we have to try everything and anything. It's hard to accept the realization that this is just the way life is now and we have to find our own way to deal with it that doesn't involve drugs (which do absolutely no good at all.) Anyone who thinks they do is deluding themselves (which is totally understandable, I know.) I can almost guarantee that if those people were given a placebo, they would think that it was helping. 🥀

Precisely too! I'm very wary of drugs but the level of pain (not to mention lack of sleep ) makes me willing to try anything!

Good advice! This is my 3rd attempt at taking Pregabalin, I'm in such pain that I feel I've got to try anything. Maybe your right and I should "keep "the wine - much more enjoyable anyway and I'm not sure pregabalin works on pain

Yea, No, don't be tempted with advice where ''a small sherry, or anything else'' won't hurt you..........well it will. All medication is dangerous with booze, but if you wish to drink then discontinue the Pregabalin or Gabapentin too. Good Luck.
