I have stopped taking pregabalin as I don't think it works for me. Does anyone know how long one should be off the drug before having an alcoholic drink? Thanks

Hi gabapentin didn’t work for me

Technically you could drink one glad of wine while your on it

What other meds are you on

And is the drink to get rid of pain or you just feel like socializing

Theoretically you’d have to be off it 24 hours ,

Thanks! One glass of wine is about all I can manage these days. Not on any meds. that matter

I was on pregabalin (lyrica) I put on soo much weight I did not think if worked for me either so I came off of it over a period of time. I drank with it. Not excessively but I drank. Since coming off I have lost 3 stone in weight. Im glad Im off it but that does not help the pain I am in.

sorry to hear about the pain your still having but good news about the that you were able to have a drink while on the drug. a lot of alarmists about who blame anything I have been ok stopping cold turkey ......don't know if this will help but I'm taking tart cherry juice to ease pain and also it helps with sleep. have not been on it very long but at least no adverse effects!

I have had a bleed stroke and the part of the brain affected is the Thalamic. you have one on the right and one on the left and this controls the nerves and pain. Well I had a stroke on my left side and now I have severe pain down my right had side which is called Thalamic pain Syndrome. It is like someone pouring scolding water over you and slashing you with a knife. I have this 24 hours a day, never leaves me but I can sleep, which is a godsend. If I did not have a drink now and then I would go crazy. I just have to really grin and bear it unfortunately but I will try anything to help. Anyone got a bottle of gin handy !!!!!!!!!!

So pleased you can sleep I consider that a gift. Don't know if cherry juice is strong enough to control the severe pain you are getting. Don't have gin handy Would whiskey do?

I Am on pregabalin. Am trying to lower the dose but it is very hard to do so. I do have the odd drink though while on the drug without any side effects. So I suppose if it does affect you while on the drug I would wait for several days to give the drug time to leave your system.

Good luck with lowering! Hang on in there, glad to hear you manage the odd drink!

Pregab. Half life is about 7 hours, so the drug should clear your system in about 2days.

Hi, I’m on pregabalin, I wasn’t aware you weren’t supposed to drink while taking it?! I’ve just had my dose upped to the max, I’ve put on a lot of weight already with it and am worried about gaining more, any advice?
