You mean just stop taking it?

Never do that. Always slowly.

Make sure you taper them down very very slowly (over a few weeks or months, depending on your doses) as you get bad side effects when you stop them instantly

Are the side effects of coming off pregabalin worse than coming off gabapentin as I just stopped gabapentin because the dr told me to and I felt fine I will come off pregabalin gradually but am just hoping that if gabapentin was no trouble to come off then maybe pregabalin won’t be to bad

Most people who just stop taking either get nasty side effects. Never advisable to go cold turkey.

If your GP has done this then he needs a talking too. Can have some quite dangerous side effects.

I really don't see the point of taking that risk. Reducing slowly is sensible for everyone.

But your choice.

It very much depends on what dose you have been on and for how long.

Rule of thumb would be the higher the dose and longer the time , harder it will be to come off.

It is quite possible to come off a low dose after short time cold turkey without any ill effects.

I imagine your doctor knows your situation.

Good luck.

I came off of 1800mg of pregalin. You just have to do it slowly. I had no real problems as long as I did it that way. I came off it because I had gained 45 pounds on it! I gradually lost the weight!! Good Luck!!

I’ve tapered off over 6 weeks from 225mg x 2. Have been on it for 6/7 years. I took 25mg last night and am hoping to stop altogether by the end of next week.

I have been feeling quite depressed but that’s mostly due to being in so much pain. I’m due a hip replacement so not the best time to do it but wanted a clean slate and hopefully my mind back!

I came off Pregablin because it was giving me side effects. I was taking the lowest dose. Before I came off, I talked with my doctors. I didn't get any side effects when coming off.

How long did you reduce it for or did you just stop mine is for pain relief but the longer I’m on it the more pain I’m getting

I was having Pregablin for about 4 months for pain relief but I was still experiencing pain and other side effects. Before I was having 2 a day, then reduced it to one to see of that would help. When I saw no changes in a month, I stopped having them.

Yes I came off them and had no unpleasant side effects. I weaned myself off them over 2-3 weeks
