I use a tens machine for neck and back pain it helps but doesn't get rid of the pain altogether,I have been able to cut my Oramorph down since using it though.

You may have already purchased one as I see your post is a month old . I would suggest one where the pads you place on your skin are heated too . Llyoyds chemist made a superb one the tens has 12 programmes but the best part is the heat function the pads do get quite hot on high heat so be careful it is very adjustable in its settings though and you can have it set at very low a gentle heat . The combination of the stimulator and heat make a great combination . Good luck all the best Neil x

I have 3 tens!!!! I use tens every day to help manage chronic pain. Wouldn't be without them. Make sure you check what modes they have and which would be best for you.

Can I ask why you have 3? Is there one better than the other?

One is very old and only a few modes and one lead is broken and I cannot get a new one, another is about 8 years old and sometimes just not the right modes and the Domas one I got a couple of weeks ago and 24 modes varying from kneading to reflexology.

What does a ten machine actually do though? I have hyper mobility in my hip and awful spasms so I don’t know if it would help because I don’t know how they are meant to work

It's to help control pain with electrical nerve stimulation so not sure if would be any use for you. If you are with a pain clinic they can advise you or your g.p.

Oh if that’s how it works then no it wouldn’t work for me thank you for explaining. They left me to myself a long time ago lol

It's taken them 22 years to get to me😆!

I don’t understand what you mean? What do gp or pain clinic would see you for 22 years? That’s a little hard to believe

I have hip pain but it spasms a lot so you think one would help me?

Try practicing a standing forward bend yoga pose several times a day.

It's also free. :)

Keep your weight on the balls of your feet, so your bum doesn't stick out, & make sure to keep your knees soft not locked. yogajournal.com/poses/5-ste...

I used a tens when I was in acute pain from a trapped lumbar nerve. I swore by it.

I will look into it more, thank you.

Kat your GP can advise you if it's likely to help and most GPs can arrange for you to borrow one and tell you what settings to use ,where to position the pads for maximum benefit and comfort! If it works for you then it's worth while buying one (GPs only give you a short term loan of their machines unfortunately) if you are in the Brighton East Sussex area I have a few here as I bought a job lot from eBay ,I can let you have one for free! They really do work wonders for the right people. All the best Derek

Aw thank you that's really kind of you, I did buy one online for £25, not entirely sure though, I put it on and felt the electrical taps on one side but not the other, the other pad does work but the area is numb. I find hot water bottles more relieving atm.

Thank you again for your really kind offer.
