I need more information about TENS Units. I had one back 10 years ago when I fractured a disc in my back and had sciatica pain..... a lot of things has changed since then although my old one still works and was surprised that my pain had subsided a little after wearing it. Are the ones I see online better than this 10 year old factory one I have?
Tens Unit: I need more information about TENS... - Pain Concern
Tens Unit
Same technology - new ones might have more settings and' patterns'
'If your current (sorry! ) one is effective then stay with it.
Cheers.
I was advised to get a physio to show me exactly where to place the pads for best benefit and to check how I was using a machine. It definitely makes a difference getting the pads in exactly the right place.
earthwitch, I was just reading about how placement is sooo important, thanks for the feedback here
It really helps me I use mine in neck and back. I find it relaxes the pain enough to calm down my anxiety when it gets to that awful stage. I saw an info commercial a few months ago where people are using them for muscle tone, it really was very funny to see these people trying to fake their exercise program. I hope you get to feeling better.
Wow Jewel, I hadn't thought about the neck... do you put the electrodes on the neck or just on the shoulders? I never really thought about using them for the upper body... thanks
I put them about three inches from spine in either place. I have use it on shoulders too. Do you have vfour lead wires. I know its challenging to keep all the wirescright but it really helps calm me down when I need it.
I have 2 kinds - one the old sort with wires and a newer model that is wireless. The wireless one is OK as it works better if I want to wear a dress, but I don't find it is as powerful as the old type. So if my pain level is high I always go back to the old wired one.
Who knows. But can you borrow one from your pain clinic. So you can compare.
I have 2. And have found a degree of creative gets the best from it, at their best they only work as mild distraction. But any distraction is welcome. Agree with maiden. The wire jobs give more punch.
Good luck.
Maybe mld distractions to you Nedd... I was having some neck pain I felt coming on and after reading Jewell's post I'm sold due to the pain relief I felt.
I bought one following a bad flare after my first lot of cortisone injections. I have a lot of faith in them. Med fit 1 dual channel tens on Amazon is the one I bought and my physio approved and said it was one of the best available. Reason being it has various adjustment options. The pads on this one are easily replaceable and last about a week (depending on length of use) .
Ive not used my tens for a few months now but when I needed it it was amazing. I would never get rid of it. It's just another pain management option I keep up my sleeve 😀
I would look up the spec of your current one and compare it to the one I mentioned. No point buying a new one if it's similar. My one cost £26!! Money very well spent.
Good luck with it, whatever you decide.
Get outta here Angie, $26.00 I need to look for that one just to have... I saw one that comes with a vest/belt type thing but kinda scared to order it might not work as well... Thank you
£26 pound not dollars but even so very cheap considering the relief it provides 👍
Wow... where did you find this? O Amazon my favorite place to shop... thanks Angie
I used tens machine during pregnancy when I suffered excruciating back pain and it worked for me. I bought it from boots. Best drug free Relief. However it doesn't have permanent solution for prolonged pain. Only helps in the sort term.
