Hi there I'm a 25 year old Male in relatively decent shape 5'5 148lbs. So back in January of this year I had a severe cold that was treated as an upper respiratory infection which lasted 3 weeks in which i basically was coughing almost nonstop, had an awful fever, and produced a bunch of mucus. After that subsided in late January i started noticing a strange rib and chest pain when bending while standing up. So I waited about a week to see if it was just that I had made my chest muscles sore from all the coughing. However, my symptoms didn't dissipate so I visited my primary care aho ordered an Ekg that came back normal. Since then I have seen an orthopaedic doctor who initially thought maybe it was costrochondritis but upon taking a chest MRI didnt find any evidence of that or any type of injury to my chest muscles or bones. Of course this freaked me out so I saw several other cardiologists who ran a plethora or test on me including a treadmill stress test, a 2d transthoraic echo of my heart, troponin blood work, ck-mb blood panel, metabolic panel, and CBC panel all of which came back normal. From there I went on to see a gastro who prescribed ppi which hasn't helped at all despite increasing my dose to twice daily. They also performed an endoscopy which was totally normal as well. I've attempted to see another cardiologist however they seemed to be dismissive due to the workup I've already had performed. Currently my symptoms have worsened to where I get the chest pain on the lefg side of my sternum around my pectoral region randomly when at work, stressed, after eating sometimes, and still occasionally when bending forward while standing. Not to mention within the past month I've had some forearm, arm, and shoulder pain. Typically the chest pain is in the same general area in which I can pretty much point to. I've since acquired a new primary care who seems to think my workup has been sufficient and that I need to give my body time to see if it will naturally deal with the issue as everyone believes it to be some kind of muscoskeletal issue which is being made worse by anxiety or caused by it. I won't deny that I've always been a pretty anxious person. However, I have these symptoms even when I'm not anxious and I feel as though the feeling itself is just intensifying my anxiety which definitely isnt helping. I'm just really scared that it's a heart or vascular issue they aren't detecting. Which I understand is unlikely since I'm young, no longer smoke, have good cholesterol including ldl levels, and have pretty good blood pressure. I don't know I just feel this sensation that I have never felt before and it's truly diminishing my quality of life. I'm really scared it's something serious they're missing and I do not know where to proceed from here.

Left chest pain for months
The coughing may have left you with over contracted muscles. You need someone to stretch them out for you. If you are in the UK I would suggest a McTimony chiropractor. You could try a massage therapist. They should know about over contracted muscles and should be able to lengthen out the muscles.
I am making a guess. I have had experience of nasty coughing cold type illnesses which last for weeks. One can only investigate and see if I what I said is true or not.
I've been through all that testing n meds u mentioned past 2 weeks n doing it again for very similiar problem as yours.when I read ur post first thing that came to mind when u mentioned muscoskeleton..chiropractic. .that's the direction I'm gonna go if my tests come back negative again.I have an excellent one who helps me with my NUMEROUS med issues.ex.severe problem in my neck was caused by my hip area..totally crazy but once he adjusted me I was great.he also does soft tissue work on me.hope this helps..im in ur same spot now n it sucks not knowing n ur mind messes with ya in the process.
