Why does bowel movement help to relive severe lowerback pain? Im not constipated but have CKD and AF and heart failure.

The pressure of the full bowel on the spine is relieved when passing stools.

We can have fecal retention or constipation without realising it, even if bowel movements seem regular and complete. There can also be trapped air / gas causing pressure which would be relieved with bowel movements.

Slack abdo muscles and /or weakness in pelvic floor may contribute to pain. If everything is firm then bowel movements could be more regular/ frequent and complete. Drinking extra water might help.

You have two posts on different things, but they may be related. The body consists of a number of engineering systems which interact often in unknown ways.

You say in your other post: "I have swollen ankles and legs making it very painful to walk, also severe lower back pain which makes it nearly impossible to get up from chair or get in or out of car." You say in this post: "Why does bowel movement help to relive severe lowerback pain?"

I suggest you see a sports therapist. I suspect that you have a number of over contracted muscles which are applying forces to structures to their detriment. The over tight muscles are closing lymph channels preventing draining. Severe lower back pain may be influenced by over tight muscles applying forces on structures in ways they do not like.

The sports therapist is not going to cure the problem. What they can do is reduce the pressure on the system so that it can function better.

Another thing which is worth investigating is how do get up out of a chair. Many people try and get out of a chair when their centre of gravity is not between the ankles. This makes it very difficult to get out of a chair. This is for you to investigate. An Alexander Technique teacher could help you in this matter.

Again this comes with the proviso it is not a cure. It is a method by which you are seeking to lower stresses on your engineering systems so that they can hopefully function better.

Hi Haggishead, consider getting your vitamin D blood levels checked.

My chronic lower back pain and other pains and conditions went almost over night once on a high, but safe dose of vitamin D3 +K2

Vitamin D3 is now known to help CKD.

Google bicarbonate soda and Kidney disease, ( if you don’t already know) it might shock you, (it did me) only wish I knew this back when my Mum was on dialysis.

A High but safe dose of D3 +K2 also helped my Mum enormously.

Vitamins D3, K2, vitamin A and magnesium all work well together.

The pain could be from spine issues and degenerated or herniated disks. Also, sometimes the area that causes this problem is from tail bone and first vertebrae. If they have collapsed in any way, become fused or are deformed (my issue) then that kind of pain is normal.
