I happened to be stretching a couple months ago and all of sudden felt a pain in my buttocks area and a Sharp pain done my left leg..This lasted for a week and went away but ended up with my left foot toes being partially numb, my foot cannot move up or down by itself, very sensitive to touch the top of my foot and could barely put a loose sock on due to the pain and burning.. I cannot put a shoe on at all, so I have to use so many thick socks with a shoe on my right foot..I had EMG testing which concluded SERVE nerve damage in my left leg...Does anybody have a story like mine ?

Yes I know this pain and numbness you have in your foot because I’ve had it for the last couple of years after pulling my back and having sciatica pain down my left leg. I’ve learned to live with it and find when it’s bad exercising my foot, bathing in warm water with Epsom salts and then resting it helps to relieve pain. Also ibuprofen relieves the pain for me. Hope this helps, cheers

Hi I had this. Slightly more explosive start to it but ended up with severe sciatica pain down my leg and numbness in my foot and calf. Had a severe herniated disc in my back. Nothing helped and it became the beginning of cauda equine upon which it was decided that an operation was needed. You will need an mri to see if your disc is herniated.

Hi, thank you for the info.. I only have pain in my foot now and cannot flex it up or down...What made them do a mir on your spine ? Did you have back pain ? Did you have major spasm in your foot ?

I started of with crippling back ache and could not get off the floor where I was to get some relief. It then transferred to my leg and I had minimal back ache. The sciatica was extremely severe and the fact that I had a lot of numbness made them decide to do an MRI which was lucky in my case. Had 2 more episodes after that of severe sciatica and had 2 more operations after 2 more MRI's. I suppose it depends on the severity before they decide on an MRI. I was literally climbing the walls at times. If it is not too severe they prefer to be more conservative and wait and see.

I was diagnosed with a small tear in 2011, and due to waiting years I now have a large tear in a disc in my lower spine and can barely sit, pain worsening and consultants still won't operate as I have degeneration in other levels. The trouble is people can end up with severe disabilities due to being left too long. Nerve pain is nerve injury, the NHS are throwing people's lives down the drain in order to save money. It is cheaper to be sued for compensation than provide proper health care. And those who think all surgery goes wrong or doesn't help...they need to get a clue. It helps millions around the world all the time. Cauda equina syndrome can occur and then you can be in a wheel chair wearing a nappy for life, don't let docs fob you off with pills and dumb therapies that don't work. I am trying to fight this right now. Strong pain meds contain morphine, naproxen and ibuprofen damage cartilage and your stomach, cause colitis etc. Gabepentin and pregabalin dumb the biggest nerve in your body which is the brain. You will never be the same after being on those drugs for years. What docs and consultants don't tell you is the injections you will have pumped around nerves will eventually damage you too, and there are big risks with those. They will throw pain management at you, waste of time. You will spend your time on courses with people who collect problems and have given up on life. This sounds harsh but know the true reality of back pain, lies, therapies that make people rich off the backs of sufferers. Pills that will make you ill. NHS do not want to help us, they concentrate on cancer care which is good, but also type 2 diabetes which costs the NHS £3K a year and that cost will climb. Many people with type 2 diabetes lead an unhealthy lifestyle. The NHS pick up the tab for all kind of self inflicted problems, for instance £15K is spent on each drug addict who is also addicted to alcohol and cigarettes. Yes those people should be helped, but there are charities that will help people. Degeneration, long term injury, circle the drain and watch those medical professionals lie through their bloody teeth and make your health even worse. If you lived in Spain, you have an MRI, try therapies for up to a year and if it doesn't work they operate. It used to be the case in the UK until 2009 when they decided to cause a mass genocide and allow people with severe pain to become housebound, depressed, and some kill themselves. Blood on their hands, but they are the good guys right??? WRONG! Fight for your health, because they won't.
